I would think he would be top 5 pick material. I am not a football expert, so why wouldn't you want him? Am I missing a big detail?

I'd draft WR with the first 2 or 3 picks.
But I think you guys are also forgetting Matt Cassell is a free agent (and im sure there are going to be other FA QB's that would fair descent). Does Detroit really want to go down the road of Harrington Avenue again? I think for the good of the franchise they should make some safe picks. I think fans there are tired of the gambles Millen has taken and dont want a new GM to do the same thing.
Bradford's a sophmore people!
It's hard to tell right now, but it definitely doesn't look top 5. I think a guy like Tebow is really uncertain until he hits the combine, where a guy like Oher is a LOCK to go top 5.
Again, it doesn't look good... it depends on the combine, what teams want/need, and what teams think other teams want/need. Sometimes, nothing can boost a player more in a GM's mind than seeing other teams become interested.
If I had to project him right now, I'd say 2nd round. Placement within the round entirely depending on team needs. It's a very weak QB class, so I'd expect the top 2 QBs to go in the first 2 rounds. Right now, that looks like Stafford and Tebow.
But why not draft Tebow in the first? I know QB's are generally not first picks, but he is pretty good in my opinion. What is the reason he should not be a 1st rounder?
QBs in spread offenses like Tebow should always be taken with a grain of salt. Alex Smith, anyone?
And while it's not impossible for them to be good QBs, they aren't as advanced on reading defenses and such.
It's not entirely insane, however, to think Tebow would go in the first round. Again, like I said, he can have an impressive combine.
And his mobility will be a MASSIVE boost for him. A GM could easily start thinking they could overlook weaknesses in his arm, and either make up for that by changing the game plan (something a team like Detroit could easily afford), or attempt to work on his mechanics and turn him into a great passer.
I think if he throws the ball well at the combine and shows that he's very fit, he'll earn a high 2nd round pick.
OK, this will sound crazy......but I trade the first pick to NE for Tom Brady!!!
Thats right. I heard alot of talk on the NE radio stations today about the plausibility of trading Brady, and i'll be danged if it didn't make sense. I'd do it tomorrow.
Cassell has shown me enough to run the ship in NE. He'll come a ton cheaper, and they could easily land a #1 pick, and a couple of #2 picks for him Brady. Brady, while an icon....is at the point where IMO they can maximize return and get 150% return.
The Lions, while trading alot of high picks would obtain an elite QB who IMO could make them viable. Maybe not a playoff team...but hey, look what Favre is doing in NY(NJ)! It is the NFL after all. Brady will sell out seats so that they can finally get a home game televised in their market for starters.
