They basically said that they AREN'T going to go above last year's team payroll amount. They lost 88 million dollars this year, so they aren't going to spend more than 88 million dollars this year.
Include Swisher, Sabathia, Pettitte's probable 10 million dollars, the backloaded contracts which increase this year(Rodriguez's increases 5 million this year, Cano's by 3 million), and the increases Wang, Nady, and Bruney will get in abritration, and that's atleast 65 million of that 88 million already spent. Let's say we get Cameron. Add 10 million, and that means we will only have 13 million left to spend at most
It isn't like we have unlimited funds. We aren't going over last year's payroll, and we've already spent a lot of our spending money
