No better D referring to USC. Sorry I got caught up and forgot to place they have a better D but Florida has a better O and conference.

But the strength of schedule now looks at the rankings of Oregon (who I don't think are the 19th best team in the country no matter my bias) and Oregon State. Two teams that aren't as good as the polls think they are. Also USC's schedule strength is bumped due to a battle with Ohio State this year (another poll over rated club). Florida's wasn't a tough schedule but I do feel the SEC is a better conference then the Pac-10.

USC's strong D vs. Florida's outstanding O would be a good match up. But I think Florida would eventually pull the win out.

For what its worth, a team's ranking in the polls doesn't affect SOS, only records of that team's opponents & their opponents' opponents. The SEC was so down this year that I think SOS is a moot argument between these 2.

Personally, I think Texas & OU are the 2 best teams in the nation

That's nice. I wasn't questioning who you think should be in whatever BCS games or hypothetical playoff scenarios. I just said saying Ball St. wouldn't make it through a "regular schedule" and still be a good team or whatever is a stretch. Ball St. is a damn good team. You saying that if they played a real schedule that they'd struggle to get to .500 and then also saying that you think they deserve to be in a BCS bowl seems to be pretty contradictory.

Have they been doing it against defenses on the level of Alabama?? No way..they haven't faced a defense even CLOSE to as powerful up front and as quick/smart in the secondary as Alabama. Everyone acting like Florida is surely going to hang up 50+ on 'Bama just because they've been doing it to significantly weaker teams is just as ridiculous as me saying that Alabama is going to hold Florida to under 10 points like they've been doing to a ton of teams this year. Both statements are ridiculous. Both things COULD HAPPEN, but pretty unlikely.

Again...Florida being a favorite, I can understand that. Florida just being a lock to put 50 on Bama..that's just ridiculous. Unreal how underrated the #1 team in the BCS, the undefeated Crimson Tide is right now. Even if they lose, they're still a damn good team.

When new information comes out, I will openly admit that I change my mind. This move of them saying they don't want to play Boise simply cause they would be in what's essentially a road game smacks of weakness to me & I have to assume the AD didn't make this decision without input from at least his head coach. I think this shows a lack of confidence & courage, personally, which normally wouldn't translate well against other top-tier teams

South Carolina's D was nearly as highly touted & as good statistically as Bama's & UF absolutely torched them

South Carolina's D isn't anywhere near the level of Alabama. Their team was just hyped up before that game b/c it was Spurrier vs. his old powerhouse. Clemson was a pretty hyped team when Alabama played them at a neutral site too.....that doesn't mean I get to claim that Bama dominates the Top 10.

Bama's D has only given up more than 20 points twice all year..and one of those times was after they got out to a 31 point halftime lead at Georgia (#3 at the time) and simply dropped into an essential prevent defense just to kill the clock and prevent any quick scores. If they wanted to, they could've kept Georgia's offense down just like they easily did in the 1st half.

Florida's offense is great. So is Alabama's defense..and their offense controls the ball for so long as well. Florida will do well to score 30. 50 ain't happening.

Only Notre Dame and other independents have the opportunity to pick who they play. USC is stuck in a conference where we have the Washingtons.
USC regularly schedules a harder non-conference schedule than most.

Alabama- Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 2-9 , Tulane Green Wave 2-10, Arkansas State Indians 6-5

Oklahoma- (actually a half impressive non conference) TCU Horned Frogs 10-2, Cincinnati Bearcats 10-2 BUT also scheduled University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 1-11, Washington 0-11

Texas- Florida Atlantic Owls 6-6, UTEP 5-7, Rice Owls 9-3, Arkansas Razorbacks 5-7

Florida- (rather impressive ones) Hawaii Warriors 7-5, Miami Hurricanes 7-5, Florida State Seminoles 8-4, and of course a WTF Citadel Bulldogs 4-8

USC- Notre Dame Losing Irish 6-6 (trust me i hate the fact we play them every year, maybe they'll be good some day), Virginia Cavaliers 5-7 (can't believe this team actually went 9-4 in 2007), Ohio State Buckeyes 10-2
and of course we are stuck playing in a weaker conference than the Big 12 or SEC.
It would be nice if we weren't required to play so many conference teams, cause the only out of conference team we've lost to in the past few years.... Texas.

Actually every team gets to pick their non-conference schedule. And yes they can't pick their conference...but that's a fact of college football. If your conference is weak...you might be (OSU the past two years in the NC)

But I know other teams (especially ol' Alabama) have easier schedules.

Fact is, USC didn't have that tough of a schedule this year. And you can't deny that. Oklahoma had a way tougher schedules PLUS the toughest conference in the country. And you still think USC is a better team?

Florida's schedule was 28th to USC's 33rd so they were close enough. I said that game would be close...but I think Florida would win.

This is a moot point. "Common Opponent" argument is lost when it is an upset based off a missed extra point.

Florida is 1,000 times better then when they played that Ole Miss game...if you want that Florida to meet Bama in Georgia maybe you should time travel back to September.

Exactly. Texas Tech beat Texas and Oklahoma beat Texas Tech, so Oklahoma is obviously better than Texas (despite the fact that they lost to Texas on a neutral field) :rolleyes: I have never understood the Team A beat Team B but Team C beat Team A so Team C is better than Team B argument.

There was an article two years ago based off the Team A beat Team B debate and it was found that the University of Northern Colorado a 1-11 team was the true National Champion because the team they beat, Montana, beat Montana State who upset Colorado who beat Iowa State who beat Ole Miss who upset Auburn who beat Florida (Florida was the National Champion)
