I would be unloading some salary with this as well.
Hill is expected 10 mil a year for four years
Barnes 4,250,000 for four years
and Church 7,000,000 a year for three years
and I would be getting Phillips who is due 6,750,000 over three years.
This fills some of the Reds needs: Their current outfield is two outfielders rated 82 and 84 and the last one is 75 (left field where Church plays). As well we would be swapping second basement, and their current shortstop is rated 78, and Barnes is obviously better.
Would you do it if you were the Reds?
What are the ages, payroll budget/current payroll for the reds, and what was the reds record last year and current?
Basically it depends on whether or not the reds are in re-building mode. If they are sniffing the postseason then id say yes,its a good trade for them contingent upon finances which you have yet to detail. If the were 10+ games out last year and arent looking so hot this year then i probably say no, not in their best interest. Talent is easy to match its the circumstances in which the AI doesnt consider often and you must do that for them in your trades involving the AI.
Re: *Official trade thread*
I agree. If the Reds are in re-building mode and one of the worst teams in the league, I would not give up the first round draft pick (especially if it was one of the top 5). And if they're rebuilding or completely out of it, I highly doubt they would want to take on your additional salaries unless you took MORE off of THEIR hands (and without taking players as good as Brandom Phillips). If they're contending, that's another story.
Re: *Official trade thread*
Here's an idea for this thread?
1. I saw we are required to input certain and specific information that each person deems expected in knowledge for a trade to be made. Let's say, I want to know, their rating, salary due, defensive ratings, offensive numbers, what the team you are trading with's numbers, needs and if they have replacement prospects coming up. What kind of mode are they in? Rebuilding etc. this way we do not have to input our mog. files, rather a checklist of what everyone wants and expects to see.
2. Obviously, since you can make the trade on your own regardless then we can not inforce this, but let's say, a committee of three people have to agree? or maybe two? and by when you have to have the responses?
Just some ideas, I really like this, preferrably I would rather do a league where there were 29 other managers and we all had a comissioner and some sub committee members and could play through seasons and seasons. But I am not sure how that would work, especially since I do not know anything about the leagues people are in on here, but that is what I would like, but this is fun either way.
So what do you guys think? some specific rules of what you need to put in here for the moves to be allowed to be made? someone want to post their expectations and we go from there?

If you want to do that, you can. Uploading the MOG file is easier and faster than typing all of that out. There are always things to find in the MOG file that you don't want to spend the time listing out in the thread. That's what we always ask for anyway.
For example, you offer me a trade for a player that you want. Maybe I don't like the players you're offering or the salary that you want me to take on, so I would at least "shop" that player around the league to see if I could get a better offer than what you offered me. That's something that the human GM will consider before accepting your trade... at least I would.

Well, that's what Baseball Mogul Online did, but that's ending on December 1st.

Why is it ending? I never even knew it existed, I have ideas for a new one at least. I would love to be involved in such a thing. Will there be a new one?

No idea... it wasn't economically feasible for Clay to continue. Here's the forum, and the thread is stickied at the top.
Re: *Official trade thread*
You guys should check out Baseball Mogul: Leagues
Re: *Official trade thread*
I actually ran a league that went belly up because of certain uncontrollable factors. They are very fun but they must be VERY well run. It became too much for me to handle on my own anyway, if i had more help it would have been a great league.:(
Also im all for the checklist. Maybe someone should draw up a checklist and we'll sticky it as the first post as a template.
Re: *Official trade thread*
alright here is what I want to know in order to approve of a trade:
Player name
rating
salary
current contract length
age
B/T
the team you are trading to:
what are their current needs from looking at their roster
what is their payrool
do they have anyone coming up i.e. prospect to handle that position?
i.e. you are trading them a thirdbasemen, but they have one in triple a that could start next year for them
a sentence how this trade can benefit the other team
what the other teams record was in the past two seasons, and their current record

How the auto-sort is handling the trade. Who is taking the place of the players traded away from the team. Where it is placing the player traded to the team.

Re: *Official trade thread*
I'd just post the MOG. By the time you type all of that out and I take the time to read it, I could glance over the MOG file and figure it out much faster.
Re: *Official trade thread*
sorry I am very computer illeterate. how do you post mog files and how do you view them?

Re: *Official trade thread*
It's just like uploading a typical file to a thread/post. Locate the MOG file in your BBM 2009 folder (it's named whatever you saved your sim as) and attach it to your post. To view somebody's, you download it and save it to the same folder, and then when you start BBM, it'll appear just like a saved sim.
Re: *Official trade thread*
Trade approval (or denial) requested
**Spoiler Alert**
If you are following my Nationals Dynasty and don't want to peek into the future. Don't read this
I am the Washington Nationals, Texas is controlled by the AI.
The Texas Rangers offered me the following trade
SP James McDonald and SP Matt Harrison
for
3B Ryan Zimmerman
Reasons why I think the trade would work for Texas:
Texas is 1.5 games out of the wild card
Texas could use a right-handed bat in the middle of the order
Their usual starting 3B is Deibinson Romero-an excellent defensive player with a weak bat
Texas has insane starting pitching depth (3 90+ rated starters, 1 85+ rated starter, 4 80+ rated starters, more prospects on the way; all in addition to McDonald and Harrison)
McDonald is eligible for arbitration after the season
Reasons why I don't think the trade would work for Texas:
Just signed 3B Hank Blaylock to a 4 year extension-he usually DH's
McDonald has been Texas' best starter the last three years.
Zimmerman's contract expires after this year so they would either lose him after the season of sign him to a hefty extension
That's the basics...the link to the .mog can be found in THIS POST.
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful opinions and discussion
