Re: *Official trade thread*
I got a trade:
I get Paul Byrd, a 74/88 pitcher at the time and
Joe Winkelsas, 61/81 Pitcher
I give:
Tim Belcher 83 SP who makes 1.7 mil
and Sean Casey, 71/81.
The Braves, on the other end of this trade, have 17m in cap room. They are an 89 overall, and might need a #5 starter. Is this fair?
Re: *Official trade thread*
What are their health ratings? Is Belcher a free agent? How old are they? And how do the Braves look at first base? On first glance, it appears fair, but if they are stacked in first basemen, I might ask for somebody else besides Casey.

Health ratings:
Casey= 86
Belcher= 80
belcher has one year left on his contract (it is april of '99, he has a contract thru '00)
They have Andres Galarraga at first, 83 but he is 36 yrs old. Casey would be a good replacement.
Re: *Official trade thread*
Are they still under payroll taking on Belcher's contract? The AI doesn't care in the game, but I would want to ensure they're under budget if I was the GM. If so, that sounds like a fair trade to me on the surface.
Re: *Official trade thread*
Ghettostar, something else you might want to try that I think others would do as well... we could make a list with our AIM names (like they did in some BMO threads) and if there's a trade or roster move you are considering, usually somebody is online that could play the role of GM, much like I do with my friends. If not, then somebody might be on the forums.
Re: *Official trade thread*
Might need a #5 starter? Belcher looks better than a #5 starter? That statement would lead me to believe that they don't need to give up a good prospect to add $1.7 million in salary
I'd make the trade, sim a day, and see if they put Belcher in the rotation. If not. Certainly no trade
Again, it's really hard to do this without being able to play around with the .mog. There are too many variables to list.
In terms of talent, the trade seems ok, but there are a lot more things to consider than just talent

They are 17 million under budget right now.
Re: *Official trade thread*
And he would become a starter if there was a real person running the team, becuase the Braves have a 84/92 spec in their right now, who should be in AAA. I'd probably make that move for them.

Re: *Official trade thread*
I'm the Arizona Diamondbacks at the end of July 2008. I'm 6.5 games back of the Dodgers for the division and 1.5 back of the Phillies for the Wild Card.
My offense is great and I've been gaining on the leaders all month, going 12-6 so far in July. The 5th rotation spot has been abysmal though, and I could use an upgrade. I need some help in the pen too. A pitcher or two would be enough to put me over the top I think.
The AI seems to be high on a few of my relievers (Fruto and Brown pictured below). I've been offered young outfielders like Jeremy Hermida and Delmon Young for a package of those 2. I didn't do them because I don't need an Ofer and I thought they'd be unfair.
I seem to be able to get any reliever for them but 75/90 or 85/85 seems to be about the best starter I can get.
What do you guys thing would be the best rated young pitcher I could get from a non-contending team for this package, as well as a vet from a non-contending team.
Thanks a bunch. :D
Re: *Official trade thread*
No idea, unless you posted your MOG file.
Re: *Official trade thread*
A couple of average relievers, maybe get you an average starter

Re: *Official trade thread*
To twins GM: Im assuming the braves are in contention in this trade (if not then a resounding no), but do they really give up a potential ace for a #5 thats easy enough to come by? the 1B you are offering looks like a solid bench guy or fill in and maybe starter on some teams but not much more. I dont do it if im the braves. Maybe if im getting a guy like belcher thats got a proven track record of decent seasons and is sure to give me good innings in maybe #3 or #4 spot since those are going to be used in the NLCS and WS, but for a #5 that i wont even need in the playoffs? If i need a #5 just to get me in the postseason then obviously my chances arent that great enough to risk giving up a future ace. My answer is no.

I, personally, don't like keeping 84/92 guys in the minors. I assume the AI GMs don't either :p
