Meaning, IF the game was stopped for good and the Phillies declared champs in a rain-shortened game, the Phillies wouldn't really mind, but it might go down as the worst World Series ever.

Re: World Series Game 5 Discussion
If the Phillies end up losing this game, whenever it's resumed, they'll actually be in better shape than had they lost this game the day it was scheduled and no rain interfered....because they'll likely be able to bring Cole Hamels back on 3 or even normal rest in either Game 6 or 7.

Re: World Series Game 5 Discussion
Why would this be a bad WS if the Phillies won in 5 1/2? That actually makes it even better, since it is a rare occurrence.
-
Re: World Series Game 5 Discussion
whats funny is... if the philles score in the bottom of the inning and dont fall behind again Cole would sin the game that was played 2 games earlier :p

Re: World Series Game 5 Discussion
that game should never have been played. The infield was such a horrible mess. Worse part is that it should have been delayed after J-Rol dropped the pop-up. He cleary couldn't see it with raindrops dropping all over his face.

Because the World Series should be decided in full games. And it's completely anti-climatic to have the game enter a rain delay, and then be called over an hour or so later.
"We'll bring you the celebration in the clubhouse...just as soon as the player's are notified that the they've won!"
Being rare doesn't mean better.

how many games has Tampa come back and won this year also... doesnt mean they would have but it must be a fair game which is 27 outs

They had to try to get it in, they were hoping that the weather would hold off a little longer, and simply at that time todays weather looked worse,

And wouldn't it be something if the reliever who never blew a save the ENTIRE season blew it in the game that could've clinched the World Series.
I'm betting on it. Longoria might blow the save real quick. :D

Maddon finally realizes that Bartlett has no business hitting in critical situations.

Good job FOX on giving us a good angle on that check swing, but Congrats to the Phillies!

:D:):):)YES!!! Go Phillies!!!!

Re: World Series Game 5 Discussion
The umpires are definitely Phillies fans.

Re: World Series Game 5 Discussion
Maddon deserves a good deal of blame for this game. There was no reason to have JP Howell sacrifice bunt with one out. He should've been lifted for a pinch hitter. Keeping him in to face Burrell was a poor decision from the start, let alone having him hit.
