Why shouldn't a Pirates fan whine?? Their team is awful and has been for a long time. I'm not saying they should overdo it.....but come on..they have reason to whine, not BoSox fans or Patriot fans......
As for the "four year fan line," I don't get why that would mean I'm jealous. I just think all those douches who all of a sudden became "diehard Sox fans" in 2004 are a complete joke and are annoying. Teams like the BoSox and Yanks have a ton of advantages over other teams and whine like babies when they win a ton of games but don't win the World Series every year. Then we hear about it on Sportscenter for the entire offseason. Maybe if everyone would take their head out of their a$$ they could've been like me and known before the year started that the Rays were gonna be a force to be reckoned with. Instead, everyone is on their knees for the Sox and Yanks and couldn't even name two players on most the other teams......
Big difference between being angry about how your team is playing and constant whining....you know, like having to put up with columns about how Yankee fans are feeling about this years playoffs...and Patriots fans complaining about how they are "the unluckiest fans ever" b/c of one injury.blah blah blah.
Awww booooo hhoooooo my team fell behind and then only won by one run in a walkoff to move to game six of the alcs after winning the world series twice in the past four years!! I am so pissed, oh my life sucksssssssssss
WOOHOOO......YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN ME!!
Great win....2 more to go now! ;)
See, the funny thing is I don't see anyone saying anything like that. I SAW dickay letting out his well-founded frustration about the Red Sox playing like ****. And you know what the reason was? He's a fan of the Red Sox and wants them to win ! Shocking, I know.
In any case.....
WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I'm at a bit of a loss as to why anyone would feel it's not only justified, but normal, for an adult to take out their frustrations over their sports team losing on complete strangers
Dickay, you have just proven with this whole thread why most people hate the Red Sox and their so called Nation. It's kind of funny that there wasn't a Nation until they started winning World Series. Thanks, you've made it so simple.
I used to hate the Mets the most in baseball but thats changed just because of this thread.
I know you'll have smartass remark, but you know what, who cares!
there is an east coast bias on sportscenter...thats a fair complaint.
I'm tired of hearing from fans like yourself who tell me when I can cheer, jeer, and when I can't. And also, why can't someone become a die hard after watching baseball in 04??? I'm sure there's alot of 13-16 year olds who 04 was the first real season of watching baseball and fell in love with the story or did as most kids do, picked a winner. In the following 4 years they become die hard fans. Whats wrong with that??? Even if its not a kid, who cares??? Yes it sounds like jeolousy and looking for a reason to *****. I don't hear you bitching about the 4 month TB die hard fans finally filling their ballpark!!!
I'll cheer and jeer WHOEVER THE FOCK I WANT WHENVER THE FOCK I WANT lol......you can whine about it if you'd like.;)
Well...'most' people don't hate the Red Sox, but its OK i understand where you're going. People are hating on the sox for the same reason they hated on the 49's, Athletics, Bills, Cowboys, Yankees, Braves, and any other team in the history of sports who won consistently over an extended period of time. It's really not that hard to figure out.
Yes this thread is shocking........omg..........how dare someone be upset when they team they are rooting for is losing and/or underperforming.
Really.......get over yourselves.
Oh...it's funny the Rays were averaging 10K at their games until they started winning?? Do you realize how dumb you sound? I'm assuming you're a cubs fan as I think your avatar is a cubs minor league icon (not sure)....do you really think the cubs fan base is any different than the sox???? get real.
What a game. I'm happy for the Red Sox but dang Rays! Don't blow this one.
And honestly, the "annoying" fan debate is annoying in itself. People talk crap on teams fans only because their team can't back it up.
I talk crap on large markets. Why? My team is small market, I get angry. Is it justified? Hell no! But it's the same as Cubs fans whining on New York and Boston. New York fans on Boston. Boston on New York. Los Angeles on San Fran. San Fran on Los Angeles.
Fans hate each other. So what? No need to say one is more whiny and bitchy then the other. In my opinion. We all ***** irrationally equally.
I agree it is weird that sports / games in general have such effect on us, but its no different than anything in life one is passionate about. When that thing which we are passionate about upsets us, it is human nature to get upset/depressed/etc. When in a poor mood, some where their emotions on their sleeve for lack of a better analogy. Although it isn't right or fair, it is perfectly logical. Now, some take it to great extremes and although how they got there is logical their ability to control their emotions / anger to such extent is alarming.
I consider it more of an expression of a lack of self control. Frustrated with your team? We've all been there. Yell (to your friends about what you would've done differently, toward the refs/umps about a bad call, towards the players for lack of effort, or to the coach/manager over what you feel a bad strategy). I agree that that is logical & quite normal.
Can't say that deriding others simply b/c your team is losing is logical though. Maybe I'm just being a little nit-picky I suppose. I suppose when my favorite sports teams have combined for 1 super bowl appearance (lost in a rout), no final four appearances in a quarter century, no World Series appearances (ever), and the biggest bowl game they've made it to in recent history was the Gator Bowl, once about 6 years ago, you're able to cope with bad performances a little better.
