id LOVE it but not a chance... then again i said the same about hudson and we got him for a bag of balls
There's no way you'd get Peavy for anything like what Hudson came at. Times have changed.
EDIT: A good take on it.
it would honestly take a MONSTER offer. Im talking like schafer, francouer, escovar and jurjins... and Im NOT giving all that up

I didnt think there REALLY was much talk in this but maybe so.
Id give hanson, francouer, and either james or reyes.
If it came down to it... id give all 3. we get peave and we instantly become a contender again. What bout Griffey at center (makes up fror francouer loss) and ad peavy lol... that could be just 20 million added lol.. we could throw 7 years 150 at texeria... and then WATCH OUT this year AND next. Imagine in 2 years, Peavy, Hudson, Jurjens. I LIKE it :p
Why would he want to go to atlanta? Adding Peavy to this team wouldn't make them a contender in the NL east. With how poor the NL west is he would have a better shot to make the playoffs where he's at.
he already agreed to waive his no trade to go there. and how does that not make them a contender... the only reason they were so bad this year was pitching... add him and it solves the biggest weakness. The bullpen was not THAT bad and with all the pieces back next year they will be better. The offense was not the best but certainly FAR from the worst. the mets cant get out of their own way. that just leaves philly as a real contender. I cant HONESTLY see the Padres sending him to LA... thats just dumb if they do. The only prolem is... I dont know if we have enough to offer them
and that was with Tex and he's gone. Don't forget about Florida they finished ahead of Atlanta and they are actually talking about resigning their arb eligible players. I like Atlanta don't get me wrong but Peavy isn't going to make them 20 games betterQuote:
The offense was not the best
I don't see them dealing him to a division rival either.
they are obviously going to go after a big bat this offseason we all know that. with the addition of Peavy, and another 32 million it has been widly publicized I dont see how it woud not be EASY to get a decent bat AND another decent starter
Not CC obviously but why not sheets or maybe even a Derek Lowe??? I thik Lowe might end up getting a 3-4 year deal tho around 60 million. thats my only fear. he certainly was far from bad with LA. If we cold do like 3 year 40-50 million id do it. THEN we might even be the team to beat with 3 Good starters. Throw in a decent bat and we are all set :p
From my understanding, I thought Atlanta was planning to rebuild basically, not building for contention immediately but over the next four years. I know Chipper etc are getting older, but I assumed the team was building for the years ahead. So why get rid of so many potentially great players to get one solid ace if you don't care to win next year, but rather to win in years to come.
With Peavy already under contract (unlike Santana, who would have been a free agent after the season), like HoustonGM said, any team that gets him will be giving up A LOT more than what the Mets traded to the Twins. If this was a Baseball Mogul trade, you're not going to trade a bunch of mid-70's players to get him.
The Braves better start cloning the majority of their team then!
