nl mvp

I know this isn't mogul talk, but I want to hear others opinions on the matter, and I tend to like talking to the people on here

I feel Albert Pujols is a no brainer for 2008 NL MVP, the only reason the cardinals were ever in contention is because of him. If you remove albert from the cardinals they would have been terrible this year. If you remove Howard from the Phillies, and they still have a pretty good team, Wright from the Mets, Brauns from the Brewers...And isn't that what it is? the Most Valuable Player?

He batted more then 100 points then Howard did, and only managed 11 less homers and like 30 less ribbies.

He isn't even in the top 100 in strikeouts, led the nl in ops, slug, probably wins another gold glove. I think Albert deserves the credit in my opinion. But I would love to see what others have to say.

Albert Pujols, no questions asked. Nobody else is even close.

i get the feeling that pujols isn't going to win. If I had to put money on who'd actually win, I'd put it on howard.

No. No matter how much the BBWAA loves HR, RBI, story lines, and September performance, they won't overlook Howard's .250 batting average and nearly 200 strikeouts.

I think logic will prevail and Pujols will win.

Howard came throught in the clutch for his team too many times to not win MVP.

There won't be another candidate with enough votes to overtake Pujols. The voters won't have a consensus alternative. Those who don't vote for Pujols will split up votes for Howard, Delgado, Manny, Wright, maybe even Santana or CC... Pujols looks like a near-lock to win the real life award.

What did Pujols actually do for his team?!

Ryan Howard: 2.18

Let's look at FanGraphs "Clutch" statistic - A measurement of how much better or worse a player does in high leverage situations than he would have done in a context neutral environment:

Ryan Howard: -0.77
Albert Pujols: -0.20

Whatever. Howard wins, hands down. If not, there should be an investigation.

Ive said this before and Ill say it again, before the trade the dodgers weren't in 1st and after the trade they cam roaring back playing blisteing 30-24 baseball during the last two months which one can ONLY attribute the the trade (and certainly not the the 120M dollar opening day payroll or 7.5M they are paying the manager).

Albert Pujols got a hit at a higher rate than Ryan Howard got on base. That's just silly.

If Albert Pujols was on the Phillies and Howard the Cardinals, the Phillies would've been in first place the entire season and never looked back, and the Cardinals would've been very lucky to be in contention.
