Red Sox shore up outfield, get Kotsay from Braves

Eh. Not sure we needeed a 5th outfielder, 2-month rental...but what the hey. Byrd is coming in handy, and I thought we might not have a place to put him with Buchholz/Colon/Zink. Maybe I'll let Theo make the 5th outfielder decisions. Can't hurt.

I think he will be our 3rd outfielder. He will play RF while Drew is on the DL and Drew could move to centre and he could keep playing right. Sorry, im not a big Jacoby Ellsbury fan.

too late to jump on that wagon. I think I was the only one in here prior to the season saying I'm not yet sold on Ells and that I question rather he can make a full season.

Drew is not moving to center...and I've been saying all day....sigh..."Kotsay is not replacing anyone. He's coverage and there to spell Bay, Ellsbury and Crisp"

Why would they move Drew to center and keep Kotsay in right, when Kotsay's a center fielder? :confused:

Kotsay is likely to get his fair share of starts while Drew is out, but he'll be a 5th outfielder after that.

Braves had 2 months left and ~$2mil to pay to a soon-to-be-Free Agent CF.
Now, Braves
- avoid paying $2mil in salary in a non-contention year
- have a A-ball prospect that has some potential.

Where did the Braves lose here?

And also, he very likely wouldn't have been Type A or B, therefore, they'd literally get nothing for him departing.

Kotsay's got a double vs the Yanks. I'd say he's fitting right in with Boston

guess it just annoys me how the team totaly collapsed this year. Wren to me is NOT a good GM... he hasnt teally done anything... traded away a ton to get texeria then traded him away for far less... I dont knw maybe im just bitter since philly is better... god I hate those bast@rds
