4 outfielders? Does one move to first, don't they have a DH? Named Thome? And a 1B in Konerko?

Dammit. I was going to see the Reds and Nats tomorrow and add Junior off to my list of "Greatest Players I've Seen".
DANG IT, I want Griffey back in Seattle... :(
Noooooo I don't want the White Sox to have Griffey!!!!!!!
....Good.....Good......
No, BAD!!!!!
Nice trade for the White Sox.
(I've already seen Mr. Griffey play in person twice, I believe)
No, bad trade, they have a logjam, as Alloutwar says
Yea, but who? Dye? Thome? Konerko?
The outfielder who isn't named Jermaine Dye or Carlos Quentin.
And why would you replace Swisher or Konerko who are both hitting around .230 with a guy hitting .240, it doesn't seem to me that its an upgrade from what they already have.
Oh crap, the other guy is Swisher? Well, they're not replacing him or Konerko, and Griffey's only other true option is DH, so I think we know which 38-year old should be on the bench.
We're close now... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3512365
Why? Thome is putting up better numbers than Griffey, Swisher, and Konerko. They probably go with a platoon at first with Konerko and Swisher and platoon Griffey in CF with Swisher depending on righty/lefty match upsQuote:

The White Sox have turned into the Yankees.

the White Sox should not be making this deal
I agree, but if they gave up nothing in return it can't hurt.
they're giving up Nick Masset and Danny Richar. They might as well be sending a bag of balls and some hot dogs.
I'd bench Konerko. He looks cooked.
Wow, I've been awaiting another trade from them all day, but have yet to see anything. If this is their only move I jst don't get it.
Now, this one just seems like kind of a weird trade. The Sox already have a DH and their outfield is set, and don't they kind of need PITCHING??? They didn't give much up to get Griff, but I just don't quite see how it fits with their existing roster. Sometimes, in hockey, you get teams that make a trade just to make a trade, so they can show their fans "See? We did stuff, too!" This almost seems like the same thing.
Yea, that's basically what I was thinking too...
I've heard a lot about how Kenny Williams has been trying to get Griffey for years, and he really likes the guy, so I'd bet this was more of a nostalgic trade than one made to improve the team much.
Yeah, I would agree with that. Again, it's not a BAD trade...they basically give up nothing. It just doesn't really help the team in any real way, either. It's almost like there was supposed to be a second half to it, where one of the bats was dealt for pitching, but then that didn't end up happening.
It's not really a bad trade because they gave up 2 marginal major leaguers at best. It does create a log jam but from watching the Sox Konerko isn't just in a slump, he has big mental problems at this point and he needs to come off the bench for a little while until he can get back to old form. That means move Swisher to first, Dye in right and Quentin in left. That means (gulp) they nedd to put Griffey in center which might kinda suck. Konerko plays a couple times a week to give Thonme and Swisher a break. There is some question marks with this deal but I think it is a good trade for the Sox. Go White Sox
