Least favourite baseball announcers
I know we had one earlier about favourite announcers, but as I am forced to listen to the Colorado guys tonight, I am thinking is this the worst duo of any of the MLB clubs?
Grating, annoying, stepping all over each other.
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
And they are about three minutes behind the correct scores from around the league. How difficult is that to keep up with? I've got my laptop up with the latest updates. Sheesh.
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
Out of the ones I hear often...Joe Morgan and whassisface.
Out of the ones I catch time to time on MLB.Com....there are tons of National League announcers that put me to sleep. The Mariner announcers used to be the biggest homers around but have mellowed out.
The Hawk is annoying as **** but bearable if it isn't my team playing the White Sox. The Rays announcers are approaching unbearability.

Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
gahd joe morgan i hate him so much
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver.
I suggest that Joe Buck should be traded to ESPN for Joe Morgan.
Miller/Buck would be a helluva broadcasting team.
Morgan/McCarver, eh... not so much :D

Oh god. Listening to those two in one booth would be a fate worse than death. Talk about a Yankee kiss-***-fest. They'd probably have a state the obvious and make no enlightening or informative comment contest too.

Morgan and McCarver.
I don't like Buck either. He doesn't really seem like he actually likes baseball or knows much about it. He just kind of...has to do it because it's his job. Sometimes, it seems like hes not even paying attention to the game.

Stupid Buck. Why isn't he in the wilderness with the rest of the deer, where he belongs? ;)

He's pretty annoying. Imagine a dynamic duo of Harrelson/Mccarver? That'd be the verbal equivalent of a nuclear disaster.
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
Joe Morgan ... geez, could you stop talking about yourself and your achievements and talk about the game that's happening? And he's so in love with the K-Zone of ESPN, even if the umpire clearly sucks, as long as the K-Zone shows its in, he'll praise the ump. Meh, use your own darn eyes.

OOHH MY GAWD....IT'S ROGER CLEMENS IN THE YANKEE SWEET...OOHH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A DISPLAY IN ALL MY YEARS COVERING BASEBALL....HE HAS COMETH, WE ARE NOT WORTHY, WE ARE NOT WORTHY, WE ARE NOT WORTHY. OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!!!
That pretty much was the worst moment in the history of baseball announcing/commentating. She must cringe out of embarrassment everytime she hears that.

Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
You guys remember the WS last year, when the did that dumb icon showing how many steps someone was leading off the bag at 1st. Is that something we needed on like every play??? Quite possibly one of the worst gimmicks ever provided.

I'm not a hockey fan so maybe that had something to do with it, but I actually liked the glowpuck. Keeping track of that **** puck during fast pace isn't always easy.;)

I hate the YES guys, Morgan, and McCarver

You get used to following the puck pretty quickly, and then the "glowpuck" just gets to be annoying and distracting. Imagine if they made the baseball yellow or pink or something for baseball games...

Don't mind the colour...just wish that they'd make the ball soccer-size, so that these old eyes could follow it...'twould mean a different game, altogether, for me.....

Also those ads on the walls, behind the batter, during the playoffs brings out the OCD in me.

There is no better announcer than Dave Niehaus and Kevin Calabro

UGGGHHH! That grates on me. I wish WEEI would stop using it too. My god! That HAS to be one of the worst, most aggravating, annoying, irritating, groveling, borderline orgasmic, crazy, unneccessary, outbursts of all time. AAAArrrggghhhhhhhhh! I just want to ram wooden tent stakes into my eardrums to make it stop! Anything! Just NO MORE!!!!

I dont like either of them too. It seems like they really dont know much about the Mariners. I haven't watched the Mariners in some time so they could have gotten better. Blowers is alright because he gives out free fries. I actually won the fries once. Too bad the Mariners lost. :(
Niehaus and Calabro are great. Too bad the Team Formerly Know as The SuperSonics left. Maybe Calabro would join Niehaus in the booth. I always thought that the guys that do the Seahawks games on the radio were alright. Except for calling Matt Matthew.
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
I know he's only on Baseball Tonight, but Eric Young's high pitched voice grates on me big time. Did 'roids shrink his balls or something? And that Souvenir City bit got old after about, oh, the first time he used it. WTF? I'd rather listen to 9 innings of Hawk Harrelson (no easy task, btw) than 5 minutes of this clown.

Calabro will be doing the New Seattle Soccer team next season, as well as NBA.com games :)

I do have to laugh at the mindset of the Sox crowd vs. the Mariners one. The Mariners ones were the ones laughing, on cel-phones, having a good time. The Defending World Champion Red Sox fans...you know, the ones who have a **** good chance of making the playoffs?....were the ones with the 2-0 lead and their arms crossed, sour looks on their faces, completly waiting for the other shoe to drop so they could throw up their arms in disgust:)

Who said that? I've never heard of that clip, nor do I know what WEEI is.
Can someone please explain?

Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
I use mlb.tv, so I've heard the announcers for most teams' home broadcast. So far, Hawk Harrelson strikes me as one of the very worst. Most of the big network guys are terrible too. It's cliche to say so, but Joe Buck and Tim McCarver might be the worst overall team.
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
Oh, and I am certainly biased, but let me just say that Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling do an excellent job for the Mets. Really insightful commentary and entertaining broadcasting.

Agreed.

Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
morgan/mcarver,buck are the 3 worst guys.. i will NOT watch a game buck announces...
as far as guys I like... I have XM radio so i get every teams home announcers... Pitt's announcers were absolutely HYSTERICAL when I listened... They were just having so much fun and you could tell
-
Re: Least favourite baseball announcers
Buck is good. I never had a problem with him. He is very knowledgeable and has a voice that doesn't make me shudder (like Tim McCarver's).

I forgot why Raible said he called Hass, Matthew. But Raible is just as good as the other two main broadcasters (Niehaus and Calabro).

When Clemens made his comeback last year, and first appeared in Steinbrenner's suite at Yankee Stadium, this awful 'reporter' named Suzy Waldman, who possesses a voice as pleasant as Fran Drescher's, went nuts, basically proclaiming it be be the greatest moment in the history of man's evolution. This same idiot started weeping on air when discussing what ended up being Joe Torre's farewell press conference. She's awful.

This commentary by Waldman is one of the true gifts to Red Sox fans world wide. Similar to the golden thong, sometimes god throws these little things which albeit annoying and grotesque, involve the yankees and are utterly embarrassing. Kind of like losing after being up 3-0, they sort of live in infamy.
Some of the posts in that YouTube thread were classic. How's this one fit;

Many Yankee fans attribute his 'clubhouse presence' to the Yankees playing .650 ball from then on out.

that doesn't surprise me, considering how uneducated many yankee fans are. I suppose those who don't think it was clemens presence think it was the thong eh? :p

oh he is knowledgable... na dproud to show it... he makes my skin crawl.. he NEVER SHUTS UP...
a TV comentator/analyst is there to ADD to the game not TELL the game and never take a breath. I Hate him and with his vocal cords would break... I cans stand it
JUST LET ME WATCH THE D@MN GAME AND STOP COMENTING ON EVERYTHING!!!
It was like whtn Nomar was in Boston... EVERYTIME he came up to bat guys like mcarver/morgan/buck NEVER stopped talking about the stupid thing he did with his gloves and shies every pitch.. its bad enought i have to see it... now I have to have 2 guys talking about what im seeing and saying ever yime "and he steps out to adjust his gloves" Thanks captian f*cking obvious i haddnet noticed that he has gotten up 4 times in the game and ever time a pitch was thrown he stepped out and readjusted... Its the 9th inning.. tell me something else... like as batting average in the 9th inning or with a guy on or when he forgets to sip up his fly... just shut the heII up about useless stuff!!!
Buck is one of those guys that just get under my skin. I hate guys like john sterling and suzan waldman, I hate WEEI, I hate homer anouncers... the one guy I DO like is Keith Hernandez... when the mets are good he talks about it... when they suck he says they suck... its funny :)
that my opinion... if u dont like it... go [joe] buck yourself :p
