oh yeah...IBTL
I believe I read an article that said Pujols had asked to be in the Derby. Disappointed he didn't get in.
For some reason Pujols just doesn't have that extra "stuff" that other players get. Its like Jordan putting up 25 points in a basketball game, it's expected of him. Just used to the guy putting up a .330, around 40 homers, and 130+ RBI's is just what hes suppose to do.
Give me Pujols over Sizemore, Berkman, Uggla, Utley.
Pujols isn't the future of MLB?
He's the present IMO. But the main thing I was asking is had MLB already set the contest and began promoting it?
Another great thing was that the represented teams were the Rangers, Rays, Twins, Indians, Astros, Phillies, Marlins and Brewers.
No Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, or Mets this year.
laughing. What Dodger deserves to be in the HR Derby? None.
ugh... this thread is so confusing... the way it's going now, it should be moved back to Sports Talk (or rather, I shouldn't have moved it in the first place)!
I'll help keep it here.
I think there are too many whites on this thread.
I AM the FUTURE OF THE MLB!!!! :D
we need a BMO programme set up in the inner city to get young kids hooked on this game rather than something else.
Lol, here's my form letter from ESPN.

Hi Luke
Luke, I am your father!
Lol
For all the people who "don't believe in God", I think Josh Hamilton thanking him should be no different than if he thanked his wife, or his mother, or Santa Claus, or Mario Mendoza.
OFG does bring up a good point though. No one is proselytizing about Santa Clause, let alone his mother or Mario Mendoza. More importantly is the point he's making about trying to turn the tables on religion and actively proselytizing for Atheism...
Yeah I just read a SI article from a few months back and Hamilton mentioned his wife but not God. Obviously doesn't do it in EVERY interview!
I don't think it "should" or "shouldn't" be anything. Like others have already mentioned on here, it's OK to disagree. In fact, it's a good thing. Even if Josh Hamilton brought up God, said his favorite Bible verse, crossed himself, and encouraged everybody at home to build a better relationship with Jesus Christ, I wouldn't have complained about it either.
The fact that a lot of people didn't give any thought at all to this sort of thing at all until it was brought up on the forum here speaks volumes. ("Oh, he talked about God? You're right, he did!!!!! That changes EVERYTHING!!!!!111oneone") My pulse rate doesn't increase when Josh Hamilton talks about God. I'm secure enough in everything I believe (or don't believe) in life that it doesn't affect me when somebody talks about something I may not share a belief in, especially when I have a choice not to subject myself to it. (Even though it is the opposite where I enjoy discussing or debating alternating viewpoints. After all, none of us know everything.)
To me, it was a wonderful interview of somebody who's been through a lot and has made it out alive and almost won the Home Run Derby, you know, the reason he was there. That's gotten lost in all of this just because he brought up God, which to me, is that "fill in the blank" thing.
You got me there...Quote:

;)
I don't think he should be encouraging anyone to get to know Christ or anything like that but stating his personal views is what the media is all about. Shouldn't this part of the conversation really be in the other thread? :)
He can say whatever he wants. There's that little thing you Yanks call Freedom of Speech, or is that not still part of the American Constitution?
Well he can't say "whatever" he wants, but under the laws of the constitution he does have a very large array of things that he CAN say.
The Home Run Contest is getting to be too much like the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest ... the guys the fans want to see don't want to do it or there is a stupid rule about eligibility which keep outtheguys who want to do it.
A-Rod's swing get messed up by doing what? Swinging his bat at thrown balls? Dude, you get more messed up getting divorced by your wife who is going to take you to the bank and ****ing around with Madonna.
I was more trying to point out your religionist point of view by singling us athiests out. :)
I agree with the vast majority of what you said in your last post. And I don't care if dude thanks gods. I just think he, and humanity, would be better served to place their trust is something that exists.
If Hamilton believed that he, himself, had the power, strength, will power, fortitutde, etc to to alter his life in such a positive way, that's in no way a bad thing.
I think it's a disservice to think "I am weak but the space ghosts are strong".
I dunno who the **** Tarra is, but she's never seen me flex
Who is Tarra?
I dunno, but she hasn't seen me flex yet
