Re: I love brett gardner!!!
More like Brett Gaydner...

Re: I love brett gardner!!!
Awesome! Now if he can continue to make some hits, get his BA up, etc he may fill in nicely for Damon. He's got 15 days to make his mark!

Would you just be quiet, god. You're getting EXTREMELY annoying. Calling all Yankee players gay, saying Mo is a bad closer, Jeter sucks - Are you 12 years old or what???
You definitely are NOT getting my vote, lol.

Isn't this like Gardner's 2nd game winning hit basically?
Brett has brought so much of what the Yankees have needed this season. He has gave us some timely (clutch) hitting, very good patience (at times, too much), very sound defense, and great speed.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
I say poo poo to Damon! And on to the future! I got to see Brett in his debut against Texas, and MAN! can that kid fly!
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
Yeah, the kid is FAST!
I believe that he went from 2nd to home on a little (basically) bloop single by Damon. I've heard that he is a little faster than Jacoby Ellsbury, which would be saying a lot.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
And I'm tired of hearing how the Red Sox prospects are more "MLB ready" our guys could do well if we just gave them a chance!

Didn't I see at the beginning of the series he was hitting a massive .150 or so??? Maybe it's a bit early to put his plaque up in Monument Park???
You guys are really desperate eh lmao.

Yeah, like Hughes and Kennedy
The way you guys spoke about Hughes, if he retires today I'd suppose he'd get some HOF votes in 5 years eh?

Re: I love brett gardner!!!
I don't like Brett Gardner :)

Dude, your team passes around a gold thong from player to player and wears it during the game!!! One would think ONE of those multi-millionaires would at least buy a gold thong of his own, but they wear undergarments that another man wore, up his arse no less!!!!!!!!!!!
I know you guys are trying to ignore that, but it's open season on the Yankees, and as much as I agree with you arguing that nobody should claim Mo is a bad closer or that Jeter sucks (as a player), you can no longer get away with b!tching at someone for calling the Yankees gay. They may in fact be the gayest team of alltime.
So true...so true...this may in fact be the single most factual post I've ever made :)

You Yankee Haters will be eating your words when they take the Series this year!

Obviously you haven't watched his at bats. All of 'em have been great and he's been robbed of at least 3 hits. And another thing he has only 3 hits but he has 3 steals!
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
A couple years ago in little league I had 2 hits and 10 steals ;p ( I walked a LOT)
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
LOL! on my little league 9-10 yr. old all star team I had an OBP of 1.000! :)

Guys like Kennedy and Hughes?.....yeah, if only they had a chance.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
To be fair, I have watched Gardner's at bats (at least the last 4 games' worth) and he has hit some great line shots that were snagged by Lowell and other good defenders. He makes good contact, just had bad luck for a stretch.
And he is speedy; the first thing Yanks fans want to do is say 'slightly faster than Ellsbury', just like the Astros say Bourne is faster than him too...heck, even Clay Buchholz said he was just a hair faster than Ellsbury. Somehow Ellsbury went from being a record-breaking speedster, to the standard every new speedy player is 'just a bit faster than'. Interesting, and most likely fan bias (and maybe on my part too).
Anyway, I like watching some Yankees players. Mussina is a great pitcher, he really is. And Cabrera puts up some good at-bats. Sox-Yanks is always a good show, even when we only managed a split after taking the first two. Good enough, for an away series without Papi in there. It's great for Gardner that he got the walk-off, and it's good for Yankee fans to see some of their depth come through, with their injuries and overpaid guys. So, hats off on that one.

Laughing all the way to the bank, currently valued by Forbes magazine as being worth $1.3 billion (after having been purchased by the obviously incompetent Steinbrenner for only $10 million).
Yep, bunch of losers.

Yep, bunch of losers.
That's exactly why I hate them.
They dominate the sport by collecting tons of money, using it to buy stockpiles of free agents from small market teams, then they make the playoffs every year and their evil fans mock the Mets, because the Mets tend to not do as well, because they can't compete with the big market teams.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
Did you just say that the Mets can't compete with the big market teams? The same Mets with the 4th highest payroll in the MLB?
And for all the talk of the Yankees stealing free agents from the small-market teams, how often has that worked out and truly helped them? Johnny Damon, arguably Giambi...

And hats off to you. It's always great to encounter a real baseball fan, who doesn't allow his allegiances to completely blind his logic, judgment, and appreciation of the great players in the game.

A-Rod? They stole him from Texas in a trade.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
To be honest, I consider myself a bigger Yankee hater then I am a Mets fan.

The fact that it was a trade kind of makes it that they didn't "steal him" from them. Texas WANTED to get rid of A-Rod, because his bloated contract was hurting them.

Yep, the same Mets that are in the same market as the Yankees are a small market team. In the same imaginary universe where Mariano Rivera is "a mediocre closer," anyway.

That's pretty sad, that you hate things more than you like things. Try injecting a little more positivity into your outlook.

But the Yankees dominate the NY market. It's not fair to the Mets.

But Yankee fans hate the Mets with a sick passion. I think it is only even if I hate the Yankees with a sick passion.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
I know many Yankee fans that don't hate the Mets at all, let alone with a sick passion.

Me too. A lot of Yankee fans just feel a little sorry for them, and for Mets fans. They're like our underachieving little brothers. We want them to do well and live up to our standards, but they never can quite measure up.
And we really want to see them win the NL, so we can beat them in the Series again.

Not fair? What's unfair about it? It's true that more people living in the market choose to support the Yankees. That's certainly not anything that either the team or its owners should apologize for. If the Mets franchise had been run halfway competently over the past few decades -- while the Yankees were doing just that -- they'd have a shot at more fan support. If there's anyone to blame, look to the Wilpons not the Steinbrenners.
As it is even most of their own fans have spent most of this season booing the Mets, not supporting them.

I mostly agree.
I haven't seen many of Gardner's AB's, but he does look like a solid player. He probably won't be any better than average to slightly below, but given what the Yankees are playing with now I don't think they'll mind.
I agree about Ellsbury. Its pretty obvious hes one of the fastest, most exciting players in the game, and it seems like people want to downplay it because he plays for the Red Sox. Hes on the same level in terms of speed, at least, as guys like Crawford, Carlos Gomez, Jose Reyes, and Ichiro. I think Bourn probably is at least as fast as Ellsbury, but I think Ellsbury is on that elite tier of speedsters, while Gardner is just a step below.
I agree here too. I've enjoyed seeing players like Cano hit and Mo' pitch (even though its usually very bad for my team), as well as others, as long as its not against my team. I do dislike the Yankees strongly, but I think its more the media attention and the way the players are overrated, and how most Yankee fans suck up everything the media says like a Hoover, that I hate, not so much the team itself. Regardless, I do hate the Yankees, but I do respect the team and I'm always looking forward to the next Red Sox - Yankees series.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
He's basically a faster version of Johnny Damon. But there are other thing called intangibles that no one can really measure until he has a year or 2 in the league, so it's gonna be fun watching this kid mature.
-
Re: I love brett gardner!!!
I certainly don't hate the Mets. There's no reason for me to hate them. I like some of the players they have like Wright, Church, and guys like that. However, the big shots like Jose Reyes are players that I dislike a lot. So, you really can't say that all Yankee fans hate the Mets. But, you can say all Yankee fans hate the Red Sox, and vice versa.
:)
