Re: C.C Sweeptakes over goes to Brewers
In fact, many scouts see Matt LaPorta as a Pat Burrell type of player with slightly better contact.
Re: C.C Sweeptakes over goes to Brewers
2010 Brewers starting IF.
1B Matt Gamel
2B Rickie weeks
SS Alicides Escobar
3B Bill Hall
The trade also give us some insurance if Sheets gets hurt. I wonder who their going move out of the rotation. My guess is McDung.

Laporta will be good. He has alot of power but his defense is horrible. He'll most likely end up a DH. He'll prolly be in the majors before the seasons over. Green and Cain were rated the 13th & 17th best prospects in the Brewers system. I think we got a great deal. I thought we would've had to give up Gamel or Escobar. Even if Sabathia leaves, if we make the playoffs it will've been worth it. This is the 1st in my life the Brewers have ever made a move like this. It's pretty exciting.
Hmmm...while his bat sounds nice, the Indians already have Victor Martinez at catcher, who most people see moving to first at some point, and Jhonny Peralta, who is probably not long for shortstop, as he'd look better on a corner. I'd like to see SOMEONE who can field!

McClung is actually doing alright this season. Does he really suck that much to watch?
And I second the post that mentioned the Brewers might be able to sign Sheets or Sabathia, but not both. In my mind, Sabathia is the better bet due to Sheets' health problems. But either way, they'll have to overpay big for a long time.

I just read that it's Laporta and Green and someone else, but is NOT Lorenzo Cain or Alcides Escobar. Maybe the Brewers changed their mind about Mat Gamel?

That was a couple years ago. He's since proven to be a capable catcher. LaPorta can also play left field, where the Indians have been running out dreck.

According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the Brewers will send Matt LaPorta, Zach Jackson, Rob Bryson and a player to be named later in exchange for C.C. Sabathia.
Re: C.C Sweeptakes over goes to Brewers
First off....CC. is a nice pickup for the Brew Crew and they didn't give up a ton so they did a good job. It is alot for a rent-a-player but they will get some #1 picks back if he leaves.
As for them resigning him, as I've said before buyer beware!! I'd want nothing to do with this guy on a long term Zito type contract. That is why I truly hope the Yankees sign him. :D;)
On another note, its nice to hear Wie's perspective about this being exciting as the Brew Crew has for the first time in her life made a big move to get to the playoffs. In the northeast we are so spoiled......and its nice to see baseballs parity giving hope to other markets and allowing them to make this kind of trade. A truly GREAT thing for the game.
Re: C.C Sweeptakes over goes to Brewers
Yes HGM is correct although their is no official announcement yet It says in article that Green will most likely be the player to be named. Cleveland must've wanted another MLB ready talent. Jackson started a few games a couple years ago and showed some promise but he has been struggling since. I still think it's a good trade.

No he doesn't really suck to watch. But someone has to be moved out. based on performance it should be Suppan. But that won't happen. It's either Bush or McClung. Bush has been lights out 3 out of his last 4 starts and has alot better track record than McClung. That's why I figure McClung will go back to the BP.

I'm assuming you're a girl Wie....and I just love a chick who knows baseball. If you're not a girl, or of age......don't tell me. It would ruin it for me lol.

I think that it's less parity, and more hiring competent management. Look at Boston. For a very long time they threw money at the Sox and got nothing but second place and often worse. New ownership and management come in, bang, two titles. Look at the Yankees of late, piling money on older FA's and getting no titles.
Teams like KC develop nice players, and refuse to put the income back on the field to retain them and make more money. Hence, they suck.
The old saying is absolute truth in baseball, "you have to spend money to make money".
Re: C.C Sweeptakes over goes to Brewers
buying their way into the playoffs, they will never sign both sheets and CC plus all the other young talent they have.
They really need more than CC, they have one of the worst team batting averages, team OPB and one of the worst fielding teams in baseball. The only way they score is with the home run not exactly playoff winning baseball.

Ah but it gives them leverage though in the off season either they can sign Sheets or Sabathia whereas before Sheets was in a monopolistic situation as being their only ace - now they can say offer 15 mill to each & see who bites...also if NEITHER sign they end up with 4 1sts in the next draft (plus their own)

You missed the most important word - "You have to spend money WISELY to make money" - otherwise the Mets would be playing the Yankees in this years' World Series (& last years' too!) ;)
