Those seats are $300 a game. And you have to buy season tickets. And you have to buy 5 years of season tickets.

300*81*5=$121,500

$121,500-20=121,480. You're almost there

Then you haven't looked lately. Samardzija, Colvin, Hoffpauir, Vitters, Pawelek, Papelbon, Veal these are the ones that I thought of off the top of my head. And I didn't include guys like Rich Hlll, Sean Marshall, Cedeno, Murton.

Truthfully I would rather have Rich Harden from the A's than Sabathia anyway

Samardzija is untradeable (he has a MLB contract at 1 mill+ a year),Hoffpauier is 28,Pawelek has never pitched above A ball,Papelbon is well,a low upside guy,Veal is interesting BUT would be an extra piece rather than a deal clincher.

Hill is at A ball trying to discover where the strike zone...Marshall/Cedeno/Murton are all utility/extra parts rather real prospects so it comes down to Colvin & Vitters who are 2/3 years away & the Cubs are unlikely to deal LAST year's #3 overall.

In reality they don't have the MLB READY talent of say the Dodgers (Ethier or Kemp plus an upside arm like Withrow or McDonald) or the Yankees (Hughes plus a Tabata or Miranda/Gardner)

Well the Indians needs are at the higher end of the spectrum not the lower end as their A/AA stock (see BA for this) is extremely loaded THEIR real need is a player ready to help in 08/09/10 at worst.

The CUbs unfortunately don't have that deal breaker like we saw with Carlos Gonzalez/Adam Jones/Cameron Maybin of last off season....that was the point I was making comparative to say the 2 teams' mentioned above.

I live in DC and I go to one game per series. $20 won't get you near home plate.

Don't jump on me too hard. When I made that statement, the Indians were 35-42, 7.5 games out of the division lead. They've gone 2-9 since, and are now 14 games out. Things changed fast.

Since this was an election year. I flip flopped on this one. I really didn't think they were going to trade for him. I'm glad they did. It really has changed the atmosphere. Melvin is giving them everything they need to make the playoffs. I guarantee Yost will be gone if they miss the playoffs. him and a few others.
