Don't get rid of Wells! Who else will supply the keg for those wild clubhouse parties? :D
If anything, I'd look to get Gary Bennett some more playing time. Nothing against Kevin Cash, but the numbers don't lie.

Yeah, I've really been considering platooning them somehow. I'm not sure how though because I definitely want Cash starting for the kids, IE Kershaw, Volquez, and maybe Kuo and Marshall. Maybe I'll make him David Wells' and/or Sean Marshall's personal catcher.
Outlaws drop 4 of 6 to Jays and A's
http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...sonVolquez.jpg
Volquez was shaky in his first start as an Outlaw, allowing five runs in 5 1/3 innings
The Outlaws had a bad week against the A's and Jays, dropping two of three to both teams. All but one of the games we stayed within two runs, but could never get over the top and get those final couple of runs.
We dropped the first two to the Jays but managed to scrape by and get a win in game three to avoid the sweep.
Game 1: Outlaws 4 - Blue Jays 5
The Outlaws started the scoring early, putting up all four of their runs in the first three innings, including homers by Jody Gerut and Mike Sweeney, but fell apart early. Marshall put in seven innings of four run ball, but Witasick coughed it up allowing a run in the top of the ninth and getting the loss. The Jays 'pen was superb, going 5 innings, allowing three hits, two walks, no runs, and 5 K's.

Game 2: Outlaws 1 - Blue Jays 2
Both teams pitched excellent in this game. Jays starter Jesse Litsch went eight innings, allowed just one run, and struck out six, while Outlaws starter Kuo went 5 1/3 allowed two runs and struck out five, and the bullpen went the final 3 2/3 innings and allowed no runs. On offense all we mustered was a solo homer by Brooks Conrad.

Game 3: Outlaws 5 - Jays 4
This game went an exciting 11 innings. Roy Halladay pitched an astounding 10 innings of the game and allowed four runs and struck out eight, and on merely 112 pitches over those 10 innings, but it was B.J. Ryan who earned the loss. In the bottom of the ninth Mike Sweeney came up as the second batter of the inning, after a Norris Hopper fly out, and walked. Carl Crawford then sacrificed him over to second, and with two outs in the inning Jason Repko singled him home to help us avoid the sweep. Wells tossed six innings of four run ball, and the bullpen shut the Jays out the rest of the game.
Player of the Game: Jason Repko 1-5 2RBI (GW RBI)
We managed to take game one from the A's, and looked on our way to another one of our bounce back series, but dropped the final two games of the series.
Game 1: Outlaws 7 - A's 5
Another fantastic start by Clayton Kershaw. This time it was a six inning, two run, four walk, nine strikeout effort that earned him his 10th win of the season. Joe Blanton lasted only 3 1/3 innings for the A's and allowed six runs, but three errors while he was on the mound led to four unearned runs. Jody Gerut had a big game offensively, going 4-5 with three runs.

Game 2: Outlaws 6 - A's 7
Edison Volquez made his first start in an Outlaws uniform, and it was far less than stellar. Volquez went 5 1/3 innings, allowed five runs, nine hits, two walks, two homers, and struck out eight. The bullpen wasn't any better however, as League and Witasick combined for three innings, two runs, four hits, and no strikeouts. Travis Buck had a three hit, three RBI game, in contrast to Sweeney's 0-6 two strikeout night.
Player of the Game: Mark Ellis 4-6 R HR 3RBI
Game 3: Outlaws 4 - A's 8
Sean Marshall pitched well over seven innings, allowing just three runs (two earned) seven hits and four walks. The bullpen was horrendous, however, allowing five runs in the eighth inning, including a three run appearance by Geoff Jones during which he recorded no outs. Cash collected a couple hits and an RBI in four AB's, but it was for naught.

Outlaws outscored 48-21 against the Angels and Tigers
http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...enteria2-1.jpg
Tigers shortstop Edgar Renteria went 6-11, with 3 RBI's, and three runs against the Outlaws in a three game set
The Outlaws had an awful week at the hands of the Angels and Tigers. They suffered a sweep at the hands of the Angels, and narrowly avoided a sweep against the Tigers with a game three win. The pitching was the main cause of the failure, as the team allowed 48 runs in six games.
We were outscored in the first two games of the Tigers series 25-1 and were nearly swept, but managed a game three win and held the Tigers to a lone run.
Game 1: Outlaws 1 - Tigers 10
Just about nothing went right in this game. Kenny Rogers dominated Outlaws hitters for eight innings, allowing just one run and six hits, while walking two and striking out five. Kuo pitched six innings of four run ball for the Outlaws, but it wasn't enough with the way Rogers was pitching. The bullpen imploded to allow six runs (four earned) in the final two innings of the game. Our lone run was driven in by Mark Sweeney and scored by John McDonald.
Player of the Game: Edgar Renteria 4-5 3RBI
Game 2: Outlaws 0 - Tigers 15
The team went into this game with high hopes of a bounce back win, but those were beaten down with each of the nine runs the Tigers scored in the first. Wells lasted just 1/3 of an inning and allowed nine runs (six earned), while allowing seven hits and two walks. Rick Porcello opposed him with an eight inning, six hit, four walk, no run, two strikeout effort. We couldn't get anything on offense, managing only seven total hits and 11 total base runners. Curtis Granderson of the Tigers fell a double short of the cycle.
Player of the Game: Curtis Granderson 3-5 3R HR 3RBI 3B
Game 3: Outlaws 4 - Tigers 1
Kershaw pitched a gem to help us salvage a win out of the series, going eight innings with allowing a run, walking three, giving up three hits, and striking out six. Willis pitched well in opposition, going eight and allowing three runs, but the offense couldn't get anything off Kershaw. Dallas McPherson and Mark Sweeney both hit home runs as well.
Player of the Game: Clayton Kershaw 8IP 3H 3BB 0R 6K
We couldn't manage the same "luck" against the Angels that we had against the Tigers, and got swept in three games, despite being outscored only 22-16 in the series.
Game 1: Outlaws 10 - Angels 11
Volquez was pitching well going into the seventh inning. But with two runners on base and Howie Kendrick at bat he allowed a home run to straight away centerfield to relinquish the lead. Overall he went 6 2/3 innings, allowed seven runs, seven hits, four walks, and struck out only three. We managed to mount a ninth inning comeback against K-Rod to take a 10-7 lead, but gave up three in the ninth and eventually lost in extras. Dallas McPherson went 4-5 with three runs in a losing effort.
Player of the Game: Howie Kendrick 3-5 BB 2R HR 4RBI
Game 2: Outlaws 6 - Angels 10
Sean Marshall lasted only three innings and allowed six runs (four earned) before being pulled for David Aardsma. John Lackey, on the other hand, was dominant, going seven innings walking just one while allowing four hits and three runs, and striking out three. Howie Kendrick again did a good share of damage, driving in three more runs and getting two more hits. Crawford had a good game, going 2-3 with two walks and an RBI, but the Outlaws still fell short. On an ugly note, the Outlaws made a total of four errors in the game, making it tough on themselves to win.
Player of the Game: Howie Kendrick 2-4 BB R 3RBI
Game 3: Outlaws 0 - Angels 1
Kuo pitched a helluva ballgame against the Angels in this game. He went 7 2/3 innings, allowed seven hits, four walks, just one run, and struck out three, while Jon Garland was even better, going eight, allowing four hits, one walk, no runs, and 6 K's. K-Rod locked down the save by striking out the side and allowing a hit. The lone run of the game came off Torii Hunter's bat, to score Casey Kotchman.

Team Notes:
- David Wells suffered a foot stress fracture in his last start and will miss at least two starts, possibly three. Jeff Weaver will start in place of him.
- Sean Marshall also suffered a sore hamstring, but is not expected to miss any starts.
- The injury bug also bit Norris Hopper, who will miss three games with shoulder bursitis. Jody Gerut will get the starts in place of him.
- Clayton Kershaw has lowered his ERA on the season to 4.61 and has a 3.91 mark with the Outlaws.

Clayton Kershaw is Outlaws lone bright spot
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/...9eaOA/610x.jpg
Clayton Kershaw, and his 12-6 record with 116 K's, has been the Outlaws lone bright spot as of late
The Outlaws have continued to slip in the standings. They posted a 2-5 record against the Blue Jays and Royals in the last week of July, winning one of four against the Jays and one of three against the Royals. Lately when they've hit they haven't pitched, and when they're pitched they haven't hit. I think its safe to say that the Outlaws are done contending this season and that all they have to play for is a high draft pick.
The Outlaws managed a 'W' in game one of the four game set, but lost the last three against the Jays handily.
Game 1: Outlaws 5 - Blue Jays 4
Weaver pitched a strong game in support of the Outlaws offense, going eight innings, allowing two runs, seven hits, walking two, and striking out four. Offensively we were led by Dallas McPherson's two home runs and four RBI's, while Alex Rios also hit two solo homers for the Blue Jays. Brandon League allowed two runs in the ninth, but still managed to lock it down for his ninth save of the season.
Player of the Game: Dallas McPherson 2-4 2R 2HR 4RBI
Game 2: Outlaws 2 - Blue Jays 3
Clayton Kershaw and Shaun Marcum put on a fantastic pitcher's duel in game two of this series. Kershaw went seven innings, allowed one run, three hits, three walks, and struck out five, while Shaun Marcum eight innings allowed two runs, five hits, four walks, and struck out two. The bullpen was the difference maker, however, as Chris Schroder allowed two runs in his inning of work, and B.J. Ryan struck out the side in his inning. Rios and Lind both went deep for the Jays to lead the offense.

Game 3: Outlaws 0 - Blue Jays 2
This game was another great pitcher's duel between Volquez and Burnett. Edison went eight innings, allowed two runs, six hits, walked three, and struck out six, and Burnett was even better, going 8 1/3, striking out ten, allowing zilch, seven hits, and a walk. Zimmerman and Aaron Hill drove in the Jays two runs.

Game 4: Outlaws 3 - Blue Jays 9
Sean Marshall made the start in this game, but it was not a pretty one. He went only four innings and allowed six runs, and was relieved by Bob Wickman who allowed three runs in an inning of work. David Aardsma locked it down for the final three innings of the game, allowing one hit and one walk and striking out seven. Litsch started for the Jays and allowed three runs and struck out six in 7 2/3 innings. Angel Chavez, McPherson, and Cash drove in our only runs, while the Blue Jays did this:

We didn't fare much better against the Royals, winning only the middle game and dropping the first and last game of the series.
Game 1: Outlaws 6 - Royals 7
Kuo got roughed up in this game, allowing five in 6 2/3 innings, but we managed to push the game to extras with a three run top of the ninth. However we fared no better in extras than we did in the first nine, as Mark Grudzielanek double to start the inning and Joey Gathright drove him in with another double after Tony Pena struck out.

Kershaw again helped us to the win with his eight inning, five hit, two walk, two run, eight strikeout effort. I think I may switch to simming on a monthly basis, because I'm getting a little burnt out simming week-by-week, FYI.
I've decided to at least try a monthly format for the rest of this season. In light of this, I'm going to skip this month's monthly league/team updates and just sim through August.
Outlaws pull within 7 1/2 games of first

Outlaws outfielder Travis Buck batted .381 (32-84) with five homers and 15 RBI's in the month of August

Outlaws Record (season): 63-73 (3rd place, 7.5 GB of Seattle Mariners)
Outlaws Record (month): 17-11
My Take:
After sub-par months of June and July the Outlaws bounced back with a great August, posting a 17-11 record, and somehow managing to somewhat claw their way back into a weak AL West division race, at 10 games below .500. The team started out the month slowly and lost its first four games of the month, one to the Royals three to the Red Sox, and lost eight of its first thirteen. However the team went 12-3 over its final 15 games of the month, over strong competition like the team with the best record in baseball, the Boston Red Sox (84-51) and the Toronto Blue Jays (79-57), as well as solid competitors in the Cleveland Indians (66-70), the Chicago White Sox (65-72), and the Los Angeles Angels (69-68). I've been counting this team out and assuming they would permanently fall out of the race all season, and they've kept proving me wrong, and now they could prove me wrong all the way into October.
Offense:
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...ustoffense.jpg
As you could probably tell from the schedule for August, the team was inconsistent at best offensively. Travis Buck had a huge month offensively for August, batting .381 with five homers and 15 RBI's in the month. He has also proven himself to be the team MVP since his acquisition, batting .325/.373/.541 with 13 homers and 73 RBI's since becoming an Outlaw. Carl Crawford also raised his batting average up above .300 at the end of a month for the first time in several months, as well as breaking the 60 steal plateau and being well on his way to 70, and possibly even, 80 steals. Norris Hopper, as has been the case the whole season, has proven to be an excellent leadoff man and possibly the best selection of the Expansion Draft. Hopper has hit .364/.404/.432 in his last 44 AB's over his last 10 games, and has seen his batting average climb back to .328 for the season, in addition to stealing 25 bases so far this season. Dallas McPherson has also been a pleasant surprise since receiving a starting role, including hitting over .400 in his last 10 games. Brooks Conrad has seen his average drop miserably drop all the way down to .242, with an OBP of just .301 he could lose his starting 2B job. Willy Aybar continued to be a solid contributor as well.

Pitching:

The one and only story of the pitching for the month of August was and is Clayton Kershaw. Kershaw started out the month by throwing a complete game, four hit, 10 K, shutout against the vaunted Tigers offense, and didn't do much worse than that for the rest of the month. He failed to allow more than three runs in any start during August and went 4-0 with an ERA of 2.00 and 31 K's to just 8 walks in five starts. Edison Volquez had a rough start to his Outlaws career for August, however. He went 3-3 with a 6.19 ERA with 33 walks and 47 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings, as well as posting a .298 BAA, for the month of August. The rest of the pitching staff was bad or inconsistent at best for the month.

What do you guys think of this new monthly format? I'm still not sure of it myself, but I'll probably still toy with it. Suggestions?
It's August. No more trades. As for Crawford, his stats are listed.
I like it, DAWG. A few details on the rest of the league might be nice (who's leading, both team wise and individuals), but all in all your new format works.
Yeah, I realized I forgot that after I posted it. Hes not doing so hot at AAA right now though.
Yeah, I'm gonna do a league leaders/Division leaders post separately this time, but from here on out I'll probably do it as one post to make it easier and since it seems kind of point less to me to make multiple posts out of it since theres no real content to the standings/leaders.
This update was kind of difficult to do because its hard to switch a basically day-by-day format to a month-by-month format with out an easy way to look up monthly stats. For next season, I think I'm gonna come up with some way to record month by month stats on my own using Excel or spreadsheet or something, so I don't have to go through every game of the month to find a player's stats (like I did for Buck).
I think I'm going to put this on hold for a while. I burnt myself out doing so many updates so early and trying to make this a really slow paced dynasty. I really love writing and I know I'll get that 'itch' again and when I do its gonna be I'll probably come back to this dynasty, but its just become a chore to do updates lately and its probably reflecting in my writing.
