What do you mean by competing directly? That they have to be opposing each other? I ask because you listed shot put and discus but not the track events nor long jumping, pole vaulting, etc. Do you consider shot put and discus to not be athletic?

This is what everyone always disputes me on.
By competing directly, I mean that they must be immediately reacting to each other. They must be on the field at the same moment. They must be playing at the same moment.
I don't consider golf a sport because Tiger can play his round at 8:00 and Ernie Els can play his at 11:00. Same for track and field events.
I don't consider racing a sport because competitors could race at different times. Ben Johnson could run at 8:45 and Carl Lewis could run at 8:46 and the times could be compared to choose a winner.
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
I would never say shot put and discus are not athletic. They both require enormous strength and more technique than they are usually given credit for.
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
Woods is about as hurt as Paul Pierce was. Hey makes for good drama though, even if it people know its fake.
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
Lol, Pierce was clearly hurt, as was Rondo AND Perkins.......and they still beat the Fakers. Come on now....
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
So, I don't know much about golf, but, are people accusing Tiger Woods of faking an injury, getting surgery on that fake injury, and than missing the rest of the golf season because he has a fake injury? So, this guy, the best golfer ever, just suddenly doesn't want to play golf, so he fakes an injury?
Is that really what people are saying?
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
Let's get the wheel chair out for Woods.

No. Sorry.
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
I dont like golf, but Woods is hurt. Seems silly to say otherwise. HGM makes good points.

That he is exaggerating the extent of the injury.

He had surgery on a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the golf season. That seems like it's a pretty bad injury.
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
To the point of having surgery, and missing the rest of the year, including 2 majors?
Re: Goosen thinks Tiger was faking injury
Depends on the size of the tear. Wasn't injured too badly where he couldn't jump around like a kindergardner when he made birdies.

He can't get his grand slam he predicted he could anyway, so why not?
