Apparently Clement will handle the majority of the catching load from here on out. And since Johjima has been getting reps at first base the past few days, it looks like Kenji will be the first baseman on the days he doesn't catch.

wow. finaly some smart moves out of seattle
can't believe what is going on...actually smart moves :)
I think that McLaren needs to go as well, we need to start fresh.
i say give him a team to work with 1st.
I hear that Sexson has now been released....
McLaren has been fired.
Oh. My. Gosh. So far everything I've been hoping for, the Mariners have done.
Bavasi out the door? Check.
McLaren gone? Check.
Clement called up for significant ABs. Check.
Sexson out? Too many rumors about it to ignore.
Vidro not getting enough ABs for his option to vest? Ugh... This is still Seattle after all.
Congratulations Seattle fans.
We won't have a good outlook until 2010.
As for Lee pelcoutis or however you spell it, he said he wanted to evaluate players performances before he makes any moves (sexson and vidro) what the heck....he was the assoiate General Manager before... what does he need to evaluate? if he needs to evaluate anymore, he needs to get fired as well. Chuck Armstrong needs to get fired too. We need the old Puget Power President back in with the Mariners. John Elis.
Mariners Checklist:
Done:
Fire Bavasi: Check
Fire McLaren: Check
Get Rid of Sexson: Check (To happen in a few days)
Call up Clement: Check
Still to do:
Keep Vidro on bench or trade/release
Get rid of Cairo
Possibilities:
Trade Beltre for prospects
Trade Bedard for prospects
You can only hope:
Trade Johjima
Trade both Washburn and Batista
Trade Silva
You know the worst thing about Cairo on the M's? He has started 11 games at first base sporting a .207/.288/.241 line. What exactly is Miguel Cairo's purpose on a Major League roster these days? I thought he was a utility infielder/outfielder, a la Bloomquist. But looking at his defensive numbers he has started at first base the most the past two years.
And don't even get me started on Willie. The Mariners deserve such futility.
