Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
Baseball both threatens and hold me to my sanity.
I think of mogul day and night. I had a night mare that my team was 10-70 and Caesar Izturis was batting clean up.
Then my sanity is reassured when I read the Dynasty thread and see I'm not the only one who has imaginary conversations with his players and imaginary owners and coaches.

Welcome to the community!

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
Lol same here. This week, when I really should have been working, I found myself thinking about who I'm going to keep for next season and how bad my farm system is going to be plundered in the expansion draft.

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
I zoned out at school (Which is bad because I was reviewing for my spanish test) and I was thinking about how bad losing Helton for 10 days during the first couple of weeks in September will hurt me.

Welcome, breathe, go for a walk, come back and play again....no changes to the insanity but at least you'll get some exercise. :D

Are you screaming Cesar Izturis' name when you are making love to your boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, or favorite inanimate object? It sounds like you're on the way to doing that.

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
hahaha.. I'm going to miss BM this coming week as I'm heading to Chicago for training. I usually take it on my laptop, but this time I have a psp and The Show to fill my baseball gaming void. :)
I will be thinking about what I can do in September as I battle the Cubs and the Astros for the division when I get back. Probably a patch or two too boot!

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
I keep lots of notes for my Royals dynasty and keep thinking about them... why some players are doing well and others failing, whether I can beat Oakland for the pennant (answer: apparently not), and how much I'll get beat up for in free agency/negotiations.

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
I normally would be coping with a watching my team win regular baseball games, but it's not happening and my BBM team isn't winning either :(. It's painful

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
I have a trash can i have kicked all over the room after blowing games in the 9th. Great therapy.

Considering your favorite team would never have made the playoffs if they didn't win 19 out of their last 20 games, it'll be awhile until you see them winning again.

Drives home my point even more.

Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
No, just that they can't rely on that happening every September.
-
Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
Basically, flukes happen, and you should look at the underlying components of a team's record instead of getting your hopes up based on their overall record.
For example, see the Seattle Mariners.
-
Re: Baseball Mogul and My Sanity
Bah. Your underlying argument is fine, HGM, but since when do fans need a reason to get their hopes up? :D

Yes, they do, and such teams usual experience an uptick shortly after. See the Cleveland Indians who went 78-84 in 2006, despite outscoring their opponents by nearly 100 runs. 2007 came along, and they won 96 games.

How do you know that I'm not a 300lb karate expert?

Depends on the sibling, don't it?...as long as he's not a 300 lb karate expert!

Believe it or not, but I have a hard time imagining a "300lb karate expert" playing Baseball Mogul and not out doing, you know, karate.
