Welcome to sad way the media works these days. The companies that own the networks are so desperate not to be scooped by a rival that they'll throw any half-baked, non-investigated, non-corroborated piece of garbage out on the air to be 1st. And after one network IS 1st, the rest simply 'have to' follow suit, otherwise they'd be left behind on a 'developing story'.

Well they can't throw ANYTHING out otherwise they will be sued for slander/libel & also would have to PRINT an apology.


As Clemens' hasn't attacked the paper nor any media over the issue then one can consider it to be "correct" - if read it says he met her at 15 & then started an affair.The problem is that it implies that he started when she was 15 whereas the reality is that there is no START date (she could have been 20 or 25)

On top of that the word affair can be used to mean so many different things that it would be hard to pin it on the paper. That is why they never used the terms sexual and things like that. They stuck with words like improper and affair, words that can be twisted to mean other things if they did find themselves in a pinch.

Dude, the apologies come out A LOT. It's just that they're printed in the corner of Page 17, while the story was on the cover, so nobody ever notices. Sensationalism rules all.
