I think that this was just an honest mistake.
Archeologists aren't necessarily hard drinkers or child neglecters.
The "5% alcohol" line is pretty hard to notice if you're just giving it a cursory glance. I think that the father didn't know about it was...extremely naive, but nothing compared to what followed afterwards.
Zero percent alcohol in the kid's blood...and if dad WAS trying to get him drunk, he could have tried much, much harder than a "5% alcohol" drink.
This just reinforces what the Cleveland commentators say whenever the Tigers, Pistons or Michigan U are in the area.
"Michigan still sucks!"
To me, it seems like most glass-bottled drinks come in basically the same type of bottle.
When I was a younger, part of the reason I loved IBC root beer was because it looked like it was in a beer bottle. Of course, I was also the kid who loved candy cigarettes which only slightly looked like a cigarette, a Virginia Super Slim at that.
I agree about the whole thing being mind-blowing, but I would be foolish to think that there aren't things out there that 99% of the population knows that I don't.
