oh,I wasn't talking about getting rid of post counts, but actually having user titles (not edited) but it won't say Register User, it will say "fan"...ect.

I'm probably opening a bigger can of worms here but, I personally would prefer it if the individual BMO league subforums were split off into a separate forum (Basically, the entire BMO: Leagues forum and it's subforums). Really, their already a separate space anyway, with their own rules and customs. Additionally, if that were to happen, then people's user names on the BMO forums could be made to match their user names on BMO itself (and forum registration there could also be enforced), which would help BMO users. The other BMO forums (general discussion, sugestions, bug reports, etc...) should stay here though.[/QUOTE]

I actually think the whole BMO game should be on a seperate forum...nothing like trash talking, swearing name calling that a perspective customer looks at too which the forum moderators (HGM, ohms_law, Robinhoodnic, and myself can do) can't do anything because the league commissioners own that forum.

I also think that the General questions, and ect...should be on a different forum as well, or maybe just hidden and only accessible by a link...for example, form the main page, you click on BMO, then forums...ect. Not clicking on the general forums for BMO...ect..

that is about it :)

For those who consider post counts a record of how active you are, wouldn't it be posts per day that you pay attention to? You know, that number next to your total posts on your profile.

well yes and no, for example, I had 300 post from 2002-2004... HostonGM had underneith 100 post for over a year....and ohms_law has averaged around 20 post per day since he came here....

from 2004- current, I have been probably the 3rd most active poster as the current trend says, but from 2003-6, Michealg123 was the most active by a large margin, He was averaging 40 post per day....

That is the problem. It's always posts/days since you joined the forum, and that's just not a very meaningful metric. Posts/day in the last week or month would be more meaningful.

Yeah. I joined the forum about 5 and a half years ago when I first got Baseball Mogul 2003 (wow I can't believe it's been that long...), but didn't post that much until 2005, and even then, I didn't really start posting until the next year.

Of course. Even with 31,000 posts, most of ohms_law's posts have been actual responses, as well (considering he had 16,000 or so before running the bot). Obviously it was about to reach a point where most of his posts were bot-driven, but yeah.

Post-padding using a bot is pointless, and I also think post-padding just by making short irrelevent posts, as well as threads like "countdowns" and pure spam threads with no point are also pointless.

So I was right....you did break the internet!

Anyway, I figured that I proved my point with those padding posts I made the other day, so I went and deleted the threads. Well, I selected all of the threads (since Boomboom made like 8 copies...) and chose delete, then clicked OK. 30 seconds goes by with my browser working, and then I get an "Internal server error" page from the forum. Well, the threads deleted, but instead of "soft deleting" them (which just makes the threads invisible) like I asked it to, vBulletin aparently "Physically deleted" them because their nowhere to be found now. Ever since then my post count has been reset. I'm assuming that the weekly maintenance job (which should occur sometime tonight, I think) will fix the problem though, and honestly I don't really care about it anyway since it's just my post count that seems to have been messed up. IIRC the maintenance job runs at around 2 AM Pacific (5 am Eastern), and I'm guessing that it might take some extra time this time around, so if the forums are slow or something early in the morning I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I think it's a matter of in trying to prove a point it got out of hand and backfired. Now it only looks like it backfired if you care about post count and Ohms doesn't so to him it is probably no biggie. I am somewhat ambivalent. I like to see how often I have posted but it's not the end of the world to me.
