Unhappy Game Owner

On 3/17/08, I sent the following e-mail to questions@sportsmogul.com:



1). I have successfully installed Football Mogul 2007 from a CD. The game opens when I click the .exe file, but hangs up when it attempts to load the data base. It did not load the data base in 3 attempts totalling almost 3 hours.

2) When I attempt to patch the game by using the built in .exe file in the game directory, i cannot direct the unzipped contents into the Football Mogul 2007 directory I've set up.

Why haven't I gotten a response?

I'm having this same problem with 2007...what do I do?

I am experienceing the same issue with FM2007 on Windows Vista. Any suggestions?

I had none of these issues when installing the game. I did, however, think that Football Mogul was a massive ripoff; borderline a scam.

I'm not going to quash any "free speech" about whether we make a good game or not. However, I think this comment is out of line, considering that the main complaint is in Football Mogul 2007, including a complaint that it doesn't work in Vista -- even though Vista was released *after* Football Mogul 2007 was programmed, and Vista was supposed to be backwards-compatible with existing software.

Microsoft is a 40,000-person company. We are a two-person company. Yet when Microsoft bugs keep our program from working properly, we are the ones that take the flack.

And my wife responded with an offer to give a full refund ... on an 18-month old game. And you still think this is a "scam"?

Argh.

i dont know about scam- i bought mogul football 2007 near the same time I received vista, I first had the same problems then soon found out I just needed to run the program in admin mode. works fine.

If you have a limited account with XP, you can not run a SM game.

and thats why I have a computer with XP because Vista is still buggy. I like football mogul but it does need some improvement, so if there is anyone who would want to help make it better such as updated rosters and mods to the league structure and editing issues that would be nice.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think if you only have access to a limited account on XP, it's not the game that can't run, but the installer can't install the game in way that it will run right.

We do have an 'installerless' version of the game for people who email in with problems like this that seems to have been working...

I can confirm, on BM2k8 the game will run, but you can't save the game. ON bm2k9, you can't even open the game.

you know I haven't used either Mogul's game on Vista however I have had a few issues with it on XP and both Clay & Dee have been nothing but wonderful when it comes to support for either the Football or Baseball game as my and my girl have bought both to run our fantasy leagues on, and in all honesty even though we've had our problems with the games we still keep checking the site to find out when the latest editions are coming out as we're always looking for the latest from Sports Mogul as the games are always great fun and the support is always amazing.
