Bavasi refuses to admit that the Soriano-Ramirez trade was bad, that's all. Maybe he's hoping Ramirez transforms into the second-coming of Greg Maddux, and makes the trade look amazing.
I hate Bavasi. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
He did alright at home so if there is a clause in his contract that says that he can only pitch at home, then I'm O.K. with it.
He did? I mean, he did better at home than on the road (Safeco Field is a pitcher's park), but i wouldn't call a 5.59 ERA, an 18:18 K:BB ratio, and 63 hits in 48 innings "alright."
He was 6-3 at home. As longs as he wins, it doesnt matter how many runs he gives up.
2.63 ERA in WINS at Home
20.25 ERA in LOSSES at Home
Maybe run support wasn't the issue at home? :pCode:TEAM IP ER
TEX 6 1 WIN
KCR 6.1 1 WIN
NYY 6.1 1 WIN
SDP 6 3 WIN
BAL 7 2 WIN
OAK 6 3 WIN
BOS 4 4 ND
MIN 5 6 LOSS
OAK 1.2 5 LOSS
TBD 0 4 LOSS
Thanks for the further research, SirKodiak. Interesting.
Either way, he's a bad pitcher, and he shouldn't be counted on.
If we give up on him, it will be the worst trade in the history of the Seattle Mariners. At least Bavaci is giving Ramierez a shot at doing something good.
To be honest,Ramirez is not, apart from last season, that bad a pitcher - career numbers wise.He is definately not an ace nor a 2 but have'nt the Mariners already got those slots filled ? In this year's FA market when a Lohse is asking (& more than likely will recieve) a 10 million multi year deal, then Ramirez at less than 4 million & being left handed too to boot, looks a viable risk/return.One has to remember he changed leagues, ideologies & is still young at 28 to perform.1 bad year, but 4 relative effective ones in Atlanta...
Sometimes, it's better to admit mistakes than try to make them work.
He has a career K:BB ratio of 288 to 242. That's horrendous. He gives up a lot of hits and home runs.Quote:

His stats (which agree with scouts) don't bode well for future performance. Lohse has good control, and a league-average strikeout rate, at least.
