Bonds was never suspended.
A 15-day suspension is not actually even in the rules, indicating that these suspensions were likely "negotiated" behind the scenes.
It's all a joke. I'm sick of steroids.

Agreed. Pathetic, disgusting, and disappointing. No punishment really at all. Just stupid to even bother wasting everyone's time if this is how the pros handle it.

I just find it funny! (sad really) The MLB is once again looking stupid ( & that is the nicest I can say about how bad they look) & completely ludicrous - 15 days,OMG,like a trip to the DL!

Wait tho - it isn't in the rules now, but at the time of the violations (2003-2004), those were the 2nd offense guidelines. Right?

According to MLB spokesman Rich Levin, the duration of the suspensions reflects baseball's rules at the times of the violations. The current policy dictates a 50-game suspension for the first positive test for illegal performance-enhancing drugs. The suspensions will take effect at the beginning of the 2008 regular season.
And also, from the article above:
Quote:
The 15-day penalties match what a second offense would have drawn under 2003-04 rules. Current rules call for a 50-game suspension for a first offense, a 100-game penalty for a second and a lifetime ban for a third.

Hm, interesting. Did not know that.
Either way, I'm sick of all this.
Re: Guillen, Gibbons get 15-day suspensions; Ankiel, others not punished
if I got a 50 game ban I would scream bloody murder...

I wish I never heard about BALCO or anything else. Just play the game and let me forget about this mess and just once imagine that my favourite player(s) are clean
