10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start [Fixed 10.31A]
Playing in pbp manager mode, in the second game of the season, Chan Ho Park pitched 6 inning for me with no runs allowed, but on the standings page, it showed my team's quality start % as zero (the opening day starter hadn't come anywhere near a quality start). After another non-quality start, in the fourth game, James Shields also went 6 innings without giving up an earned run (though one unearned run was scored on him), but the standing page did give him credit for a quality start--it then showed my quality start % as 25.
I checked the sortable stats, and Park isn't credited with a quality start there either, so it's not just a display error on the standings page.
Re: 10.31: 6 shutout innings but no quality start
...did Chan Ho Park start the game?
Re: 10.31: 6 shutout innings but no quality start
Yes, he was the starter.
P.S. I checked and he did get credit for the start.
Re: 10.31: 6 shutout innings but no quality start
I'm a little fuzzy on the QS rules. I know a pitcher who goes 6 innings with 3 ER's or less is usually credited with a QS but what if he gives up a 5 spot in the 7th, blows a 4-0 lead and loses 5-4?

No quality start.
A quality start is a start in which a pitcher goes at least 6 innings and allows 3 or less earned runs.
Re: 10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start
Just to make it clear, both Park and Shields started their games, both pitched only 6 innings, and neither gave up an earned run.

Re: 10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start
I just had this too, in 10.31. Unless a no hitter doesn't count as a quality start. Also seems like my quality starts seem low for my other pitchers. haven't been watching them that closely though but this caught my attention.
Re: 10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start
sorry, somehow the scouting report didn't save wiht that screenshot. Here's what it said for Mordecai Brown who you can see has a no hitter there. It reads "He has posted a 2.61 ERA while notching 0 quality starts and earning the win one times."
but even stranger, now that I look at his game log, he doesn't have one start over 3.1 innings and on the 16th when he supposedly had this no hitter, it shows him as pitching only a third of an inning with no pitches thrown.
So there seems to be multiple things screwed up here. If anyone can tell me how to get a scouting report in a screenshot I'll post the game log.
Re: 10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start
Your issue is probably the bug in 10.31 that awarded "phantom no-hitters", which has been fixed.

this was fixed in either 10.33 or will be in 10.34

Has been for 10.34. As I've said elsewhere though, I don't think that 10.34 will see the light of day publicly. I'm fairly certain that it's an interim, "internal" version pre-Mogul 2009 beta. I don't speak for Clay in this respect though, so I don't know that for sure. It just seems that he's prepping the code base for the Mogul 2009 beta right now, which means no more releases for Mogul 2008.

Be that as it may, it still seems that the bug I reported is a different on than the one reported by damonrusst.

Yea, it is.
Re: 10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start
OK, I'm going to mark this as being fixed in 10.31A. It appears that whatever Clay did to fix 10.31 Non-existent No Hitter [Fixed 10.31A] also corrected this issue. Either that or it's possible that I fixed it with: 10.33 Eight Inning CG Loss not counted in Stats in PBP Mode [Fixed 10.34]. It's tough to be certain...
Regardless, I just went though and reviewed all fo the code that sets the quality starts stat. After not being able to find anything obviously wrong with that, I ran through a couple of months of game play and reviewed all of the pitchers who started games and did not find any instances where someone should have received a quality start and didn't. So, I'm pretty confident that whatever was wrong has been fixed.
Re: 10.31 Six shutout innings but no quality start [Fixed 10.31A]
should my game be auto updating to something higher than 10.31 or do I need to do this myself. If I do, what version is the most current and bug free?
