10.33 Eight Inning CG Loss not counted in Stats in PBP Mode [Fixed 10.34]
I played the game on April 26th in PBP Manager Mode. The 8 inning complete game loss by Hudson was recorded on the game log but not in the pitching stats.
In a simmed game on April 22nd (not involving my team) the 8 inning complete game loss by Contreras was recorded in the pitching stats.

The game that Contras played, how many innings total was the game?

Here are the boxscores.
The April 22nd game was 8 1/2 innings long. The White Sox were the away team.
BTW with Contreras I'm talking about the April 22nd game NOT the April 27th game as only the 22nd game was and should of been recorded as a CG.
Re: 10.33-8 Inning CG Loss not counted in Stats in PBP Mode
Right. What I see which could be a problem is that Hudson was marked as having thrown 2 complete games, once on the 21st, and once on the 26th. However, he only has 1 CG in his Pitching stats. (I don't know why I said Contras in the post above. I meant Hudson...)
The only thing that I'm not sure about, off hand, are the rules for officially earning a complete game. Although, I figured that the game on the 26th might have gone into extra innings or something, which I see now that it didn't. We're sure that an official complete game is all innings that the team pitched, correct? Meaning that the home team pitcher can earn a complete game with 8 innings pitched if they lead after the top of the 9th inning?

First off, yes those are the rules I'm going by.
Secondly, I posted Conteras as an example that pitchers are credited with CG 8 inning losses.
Lastly, I just looked at the boxscore and realized that I pinch hit for Hudson in the top of the 9th so the problem may stem from there. I'll try to get a CG 8 inning loss in a bit and see if its recorded properly.

Re: 10.33-8 Inning CG Loss not counted in Stats in PBP Mode
OK, so I played a game in PBP Manager Mode and got a complete game 8 inning loss. (Even though I fielded my worst possible team I had to intentionally walk a bunch of guys in the 8th to give them the win).
Anyways, I did NOT pinch hit for Smoltz and any point. He was credited with a CG in both the Game Log and Pitching Stats.
So that means that the only reason Hudson's CG wasn't recorded was because he was pinch hit for in the top of the 9th.
I'm not quite sure how the complete game rule accomidates this but I would assume, since he pitched every pitch of the game, he would should be credited with a CG, even if he was removed offensively.

Nice work. Added to known bugs list.

If Hudson's team had not scored in the 9th and won the game, the pinch hitter or more likely a relief pitcher would have to been used. Hudson only 'completed' all the innings pitched, he did not complete the game. I tried to find a MLB definition of what a complete game is, without succes, so I can't reference a definition, but logic says that this is not a bug. Until then we can prove one way or another if it is a bug, please do not list it as one.
If the game went further and the pinch hitter had to be replaced by a relief pitcher, than he would not be creditted with a complete game.
"A pitcher is credited with a complete game when he is the starting pitcher for his team and is the only pitcher for his team."
That's the rule for a complete game. Hudson fits that.

...yea, I think so as well.
Thanks a bunch for actually following up with this gosensgo101. This is a good topic, for sure.
I'm leaning heavily towards it being a bug myself. As with all scoring questions though, I tend to defer to those here who are more knowledgeable than I.

Here

With this exact situation:
Quote:
If the pitcher is playing for the visiting team, and it is trailing after taking its turn at bat in the ninth inning, the pitcher is credited with an eight-inning complete game loss. The pitcher is still credited with a complete game if he was removed for a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning;
And if you go to http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info...reviations.jsp and click Complete Game:
Quote:
A pitcher is credited with a complete game when he is the starting pitcher for his team and is the only pitcher for his team.
The rules are quite clear. This is positively a complete game.

Yup. The pinch hitter isn't considered a pitcher unless he takes the mound and throws a pitch (or a pickoff or balk I guess). He didn't get the oppertunity to do so, so he shouldn't be considered a pitcher, just like pinch hitter any other time isn't considered a pitcher or even a second baseman, for example, until he plays in the field.
