Here's some of the unusables I've found in my searches for ballpark images.
Hilltop Park Yankees
Cleveland Stadium under construction in 1931
West Side Park in 1909 Cubs
Fenway 1914 World Series
South Side Grounds White Sox
Forbes Field
and a Pirates Cubs game in Pitt 1908
I just ordered three books on the historical ballparks off of Amazon. (with pictures) I got a sickness......
Nice pics. I enjoy seeing the old parks.
a skilled photo shopper probably could rotate the first pic to the correct position for you Robin...
I thought about trying it myself. There's a lot of work on that one though. I'm hoping instead that there's a good shot in one of the three books I ordered. ;) Lazy. :o
Man nice stuff though!
man look at the size of the infield in photo one
I know, that's about the first thing I noticed as well. Crazy, huh?
:)
Great photos. I wonder what that structure is in the Forbes Field photo? It looks like they took some armory and coverted it into a ballpark.
Also, the Forbes Field I recall had a city park beyond the outfield fence that also had some baseball fields. This photo looks like there are some large buildings behind the outfield fence. Perhaps those building burned down or were torn down or perhaps it is an optical illusion and the buildings are futher away than they appear.
Thanks for sharing them.
