Why is Randy Johnson's slider named Mr. Snappy?
lol
...because it is?
Because Nicknaming It "pookie" Didn't Sound The Same To Him, Chang.
I was wondering at first what it was
It's Mr. Snappy.
Because he snaps his fingers directly after his throwing motion and the ball snaps just off the plate.
j/k,,, I havent a clue.
Because Mrs. Snappy Would Be A More Attractive, Yet Not As Effective, Pitch.
Some other interesting pitch names are
The Eephus. A pure junk pitch that is super slow
I added this one to one of my pitchers, he had nothing but change ups and this pitch. LOL
Vulcan Change?
Fosh Ball?
If you're asking what they are, you'l be interested in SirKodiak's Pitch Guide.
Thanks Ohms, that was helpful.
How come Clemens doesn't have Mr Splitty? :(
I Believe They Couldn't Come To Terms.
Because Mrs. Splitty split with her husband, copyrighting his name and not allowing him to use his name for commercial purposes as part of the divorce agreement. Coincidentally, that's the history behind the Spit ball.
If someone is good against a slider does it show up against Mr Snappy or does it not since it's not named a slider? Cause if so then that might be a bonus that Randy Johnson's slider is 'unhittable' and so they name it something else so nobody has a good chance of hitting it. I noticed this awhile ago but I honestly cant remember if +Slider ratings for batters effect his pitch or not. Someone will have to confirm
It does. you'll notice that in the player editor, the pitch is still called a "slider." It's just a display thing that it shows up as Mr. Snappy.
