I believe this is a bug or either it is something that is desired. But upon more simming MANY pitchers end up having fastball between 102 - 104 MPH. Nobody in real life throws a 104 MPH pitch and VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY few can reach 102 MPH. Maybe the power element for pitchers is developed far more than the control or movement. This probably has been discussed but I haven't seen it.
Well, I'd just like to point out that the control/power/movement ratings are completely unrelated to velocity. The velocity is just a cosmetic thing. The Power rating controls the pitcher's ability to strike batters out.Quote:

yea, nobody can throw 104 MPH and very few throw 102. I think it's pretty important since I and others use the velocity of the fastball in determining how good a pitcher is.
Don't, it's not meaningful. Velocity is almost random, and there's nothing in the sim which actually uses it.Quote:

In real life, fastball velocity is far from the only thing that earns pitchers strikeouts. As a matter of fact, there are tons of pitchers with nothing but velocity in the minors who never make the majors precisely because velocity doesn't earn strikeouts. Once batters adjust to the speed a pitcher is throwing at, most can hit the ball. When they do start hitting the flame throwers, they tend to go flying out of the park as well.
It's also worth noting that a lot of those high-powered pitchers who never make it out of the minors are due to lack of an ability to control such a fast pitch.Quote:

That's correct in that you can use the Player Editor to make a player with a high 'Power' rating, but a slow fastball.Quote:

I agree about high fastball velocities. In real life if a lefty reliever can hit the high 90s he is almost always either a great prospect or a guy people are always seeing something in, even if the results aren't there. In Mogul it seems like I always have two or three crappy LOOGYs with no redeeming qualities who throw in the 97-99 range.
It seems like there are too many starters with 94-96 velocity, too.
