Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
For 15 years, my rotation as a Brewer was usually Webb, Sheets, Harden, Willis plus someone else.
Sheets retired at age 41 with 320-129, 3.48 record (last season was 2020, 22 starts, 13-5, 3.86). 1 Cy Young. Hall of Famer, 97% votes.
Willis retired at age 35, 190-91, 3.99 record (career ended with a horrendous trip to the DL) (last season was 2017, 14 relief app, 3-1, 4.15 record). Not a Hall of Famer.
Harden is pitching at age 42, 4-1, 4.20 in 7 games (4 started). Has a career record of 335-71, 3.41 ERA. Last three seasons has been a constant DL traveler.
Webb has been my leader and best pitcher. At age 45, he is pitching 6-0 in 6 starts with 1.24 ERA. Career: 435-108, 3.22. 4 Cy's. Mainly concern is, he has a 43 points Health.
Will Webb come close to Cy Young's record of 511? I don't think so. He'll pitch to 460-470 wins.

My God, does he think he's Satchel Paige?
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
I don't know. He just finished the season 12-4, 2.81, 95 K in 170 IP (23 starts). He has a 40 Health. I don't think he's going to have that many games to catch Cy.
I've noticed players usually never pitch beyond 45, right? So, any moment he's going to retire... Sheets did it earlier, when he was still dominating...
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
Just started another Clevelend Blues Cy was in FA at 1903 now to see what he does for the "old"Spiders
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
Harden just retired. :(
352-83, 3.48. 3573 K in 3793 IP. 23 seasons. Last season was 2026 at age 44: 4-5, 4.58 in 15 games. Hall of Famer, 99% votes.
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
At 1908 Cleveland Blues Cy Young had one good year an trailed off next 3.Meanwhile that 66 rate SS(Jim McGuire 1894-1903-1909)played through and finally got a ring(1907).Cy by this time retired before WS an with that unlikly to return for 1909.
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
Heh. This reminds me of the time there was a bug where peakend > peakstart. Every player looked like Julio Franco.
In that sim, Dontrelle Willis had 490 wins. I had players at ages 48 and 49 with overalls in the 90s. Ah, good old bugs.
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
Wow that's pretty impressive :)
I was just looking at Clemens who still won't retire and is pitching for me at 46. Last year he won the Cy Young at 21 - 1 @ 2.07ERA, but his total is still only 378 wins...

Which Of Course In Real Life (aka Not Baseball Mogul) Is Where A Great Pitcher Will More Likely End Up Than 500+ Wins.

We never did get to see a screenshot of this one did we? :)
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
Most wins iv ever had is 441
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
I beat Cy Young's win record last night. He retired at 50 years old, 590 wins and about 6,100 strikeouts. I will post a pic tonight (I am currently at graduate school for class tonight). He pitched 32 seasons. He sucked pretty bad for the last 2 seasons but otherwise at a winning record each season. No cheating or anything. Keep in mind that in my game, it's been going on for for 600 years or something like that. So it took an insane amount of time.
On a similar note, my roommate had a pitcher for that pitched for 37 seasons and retired at 57 years old. He didn't come close to Cy Young's record but he did have more than 7,000 strikeouts. I can provide pics later tonight since I'm on the school's computer.
Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
I find this very hard to believe that you had a player play that long at such a high level. I have never been able to get anyone to play that long and well enough to be able to break that record, unless of course you just leave them in the rotation no matter how bad they suck it up.
You sure you didn't change the "hall of fame career" setting at all?

Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
Pay them an insane amount of money and they will play, even if they play like complete garbage. And garbage it is indeed. If you have the money to sustain a financial hit for some time, try it out. Fithen may have the win record and strikeout record, but also has not so good records, most home runs allowed, etc. Take the good with the bad, or so they say. I did notice the the negative millions in the history.... It still came out of my budget though.

Re: beating Cy Youngs win record
I'm curious, since you've played your league for so long. What is the all-time most career hits number, and highest career batting average?
