Well, since 1930 seems to have just disappeared, I have decided to try to replicate the 1967 Impossible Dream season.
Boston is coming off of a 72-90, 9th place in a 10 team American League. The Sox do have a couple of established veterans and a couple of solid young prospects on the horizon. First will be brief overviews of the Opening Day Rosters and Minor League prospects!
1967 Opening Day Roster
CF- Reggie Smith (93/98) 21 year old rookie with good batting skills (83 contact, 83 power) and a great eye (88).
SS- Rico Petrocelli (78/84) 23 year old coming off a .238 18-59 season. Good power (83) and perfect eye (84) for the 2 hole.
RF- Tony Conigliaro (77/92) Local hero who has hit 84 HR's before his 23rd birthday. Should be a monster for years to come.
LF- Carl Yastrzemski (91) Great batter (93 contact 85 power) who has never really lived up to his billing. Will this be the year he puts it all together?
1B- George Scott (79) "Boomer" hit .245 27-90 as a rookie. Needs to cut down on his 152 strikeouts however.
3B- Dalton Jones (83/90) Has been primarily the first bat off the bench, but will be the starting 3B this year. Not great at anything, but solid at everything.
2B- Mike Andrews (74/84) Teriffic eye (93), but no real stick to speak of (71 contact 67 power).
C- Bob Tillman (74) Backup last year, who has some stick (77 contact 70 power), but his real skill is his arm (86)
Bench:
C- Mike Ryan (73/75) Good glove (89 arm 83 handling) but not much else.
OF- Jose Tartabull (76) Great speed (89) should be main pinch runner.
1B- Tony Horton (77/85) Up and down for the last 3 years, but stuck behind Scott. Should be the first stick off the bench (77 contact 78 power)
OF- Don Demeter (85) Veteran OF will be a late inning defensive replacement as his glove (100) is unparalled.
OF- George Thomas (71/73) 5th outfielder, but like Demeter has a great glove (100)
3B- Joe Foy (67/71) Rookie coming off .262 15-63 season but will be a bat off the benchg starting this year.
Pitching Rotation:
Jim Lonborg (84) 24 year old comes into the year with a 19-27 career record. Is the unquestionable ace of this staff.
Dennis Bennett (75) Went 3-3 last year in 16 games for the Sox. Best of the rest sadly.
Hank Fischer (76/82) Good power (82), but still very unsure. Pitched for 3 different teams last year.
Dave Morehead (74) Great power (86) only threw 28 innings last year in 12 games for Boston.
Bucky Brandon (78/85) 26 year old coming off 8-8 rookie season in 40 games, 17 starts.
Closer- Don McMahon (75) 100 career in 522 appearances.
Setup- John Wyatt (76) Excellent power (87), struck out 63 in 71 innings last year.
Short- Don Osinski (84) 4-3 3.61 in 44 games last year covering 67 innings.
Short- Lee Stange (75) Swing type guy 28 games last year 19 starts he went 7-9 3.35 with Boston, 8-9 overall.
Middle- Jose Santiago (75/81) Another starter/reliever type 12-13 3.66 last year in 28 starts 32 games overall.
Long- Gary Waslewski (84/92) 25 year old rookie who struck out 48 in 66 AAA innings last year.

Um...not to detract from your 1967 effort, but what the heck happened to 1930!? I mean, was it removed? Did a glitch eat it?
Looking at your team it seems very strong, even more so in a year or two when your three pitchers are able to join the ballgame.
I accidentally saved over it looking at some other seasons in the mid 30's. I got annoyed and deleted the thread.

I knew the offense wouldn't be a problem, and that our pitching would be the achilles heel, but I didn't think it would be quite this bad. Through 6 games, I have 2 pitchers I trust, Jim Lonborg and Jose Santiago.

Hm. Hasn't pitching always been the Red Sox' Achilles heel?
It's probably a little early to worry. but if this continues too long you'll have to take steps. Can't afford to fall too far behind.

Around the MLB:
Boston made a trade today with the St. Louis Cardinals that may be a long term landslide win for the Sox. Boston sent OF Rick Miller to the Cardinals in exchange for 22 year old lefthanded pitcher, Steve Carlton. Carlton is 3-4 in 26 career games, covering 13 starts. Miller was a prospect, but he was stuck behind about 5 other outfielders. Carlton will go to AAA and work on his control (64) and gaining some movement (43) on his pitches. If he can do this, he could be a top end starter in the near future.
Up next for Boston is a roadtrip that starts with 3 in Minneapolis against the Twins followed by three on the South Side of Chicago against the White Sox.

Around the MLB:
As you can see from above, the Red Sox and New York Mets have finalized a trade that should help the Sox bullpen woes. Boston acquires 22 year old Tug McGraw in exchange for 3 minor league pitchers, Hank Fischer, John Curtis, and Dick Mills.
McGraw is 8-16 in 37 career appearances, but was 3-0 in 7 games with the Mets this year with 11 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings. He will move into a setup role for now as Don McMahon seems to have settled into his closers role after struggling initially.

In news that is eerily similar to what actually happened in 1967, Red Sox outfielder Tony Conigliaro will miss the rest of the season with a horrific injury. Conigliaro was injured diving for a ball in RF, then slamming into the wall head first, breaking a back vertabre. He will undergo surgery and will be able to resume workouts in 6-8 months.
In other terrible injury news, swing man Jose Santiago will miss the next 2 months with a Dislocated Hip he suffered falling down the dugout steps.
Rookie Tony Horton will move into Conigliaro's spot in the lineup, and rookie Jerry Stephenson will move into Santiago's spot in the rotation.

We haven't made a move yet to improve the starting rotation, but we have our eyes on a couple of young prospects. The first one is 18 year old Cincinnati Reds pitcher Gary Nolan. He is already up in the Reds rotation, we just want to watch him for a few more weeks before jumping on anything. He is 2-1 with a 4.87 ERA in 6 starts so far. Also on the radar is a 20 year old in the Cardinal organization, Paul Splittorff. He is currently sitting in AA ball going 4-1 3.04 in 8 starts so far. Keep your eye on these two players as they could be in the Red Sox rotation sooner rather than later.
Next for Boston is the end of their roadtrip with 3 in California against the Angels followed by 3 in Fenway against the Washington Senators.

Injuries continue to pile up for the Red Sox. First Jim Lonborg goes down for a couple of weeks with a sore shoulder. Then another big one as rookie secondbaseman Mike Andrews separated his shoulder breaking up a double play and will miss 2 1/2 months. The inkjury to Andrews forced us to make a deal we didn't plan on making. Boston sends minor league pitcher Mike Nagy to the Philadephia Phillies in exchange for veteran infielder Tony Taylor. Taylor is hitting .254 2-10 so far this year, and is hitting .260 with 47 HR's in a 10 year Major League Career with the Cubs and Phillies.
Due to the excellent showing of Bill Lee, we are going to hold off trading for a pitcher, hoping that he can hold down the fort until Lonborg returns.
Next for Boston is 3 at home against the Cleveland Indians followed by 3 more at home against the Washington Senators.
