Who do you guys think should win the NL MVP. I think the contenders are Pujols, Howard, Cabrera, Berkman and Beltran. I think out of this bunch, Pujols gets the nod, espcially considering his team made it to the World Series.

Pujols
Pujols and Howard are really the only contenders. I give it to Pujols.
I think that Pujols is almost a lock to win it, and he probably should be the winner as well.
Howard should win it but Pujols will win it.
With out Pujols the Cards would still have won the Central but without Howard the Phillies wouldn't even have been close to the wildcard.
How could you say that? The Cards only won their division by 1.5 games, and their overall record was 83-78. Pujols was by far the greatest offensive contributer on their team. Without him, I don't see how the Cards could have won more than 70. When you compare the Phillies without Howard and the Cards without Pujols, the Phillies match up better offensively. The one major advantage Howard has is that he was healthier than Pujols.
Couldn't have said it better. As for a stat:
Albert Pujols WARP1: 11.9
Albert Pujols WARP2: 12.8
Albert Pujols WARP3: 12.9
Ryan Howard WARP1: 8.6
Ryan Howard WARP2: 9.4
Ryan Howard WARP3: 9.4
WARP is Wins Above Replacement Player. You can find more info here by scrolling down to the W part. :)
Basically, without Albert Pujols, and instead, with a replacement-level (AAA/scrapheapesque player), the Cardinals would have maybe 70-72 wins. Without Howard, and with that replacement-level guy, the Phils would have 76 wins or so. Keep in mind that the Cardinals had 83 wins, and the Phillies had 85 wins...
add in the fielding aspect of the game and Pujols wins by a mile (edit: over Howard, that is)
edit 2: Beltran - WARP 10.4, 11.8, 11.8 - much tougher position, so higher replacement level. best fielder of the bunch. i think he has a good claim, better than howard anyway. i wont be upset to see any of those 3 win it though.
