Torre still the right guy for the job in NY?

Please do not be offended by this response, but who cares how stable he is if he can't bring you a championship? The purpose is to win the World Series and the answer either is or is not "Joe Torre".

The point though is that any New York Yankees Manager isn't going to walk into the club house and, like, teach Jeter or A-Rod how to hit. Managing the Yankees is about dealing with the media, dealing with the players themselves, and managing the lineup and rotation to maximise talent. There is no "finding hidden talent" in the Yankees organization, or anything like that.

Torre is great for the Yankees, for exactly the reasons that dps mentioned.
