How about piniella's rings with the yankees...or his ring in 90 as a manager.

Or his 116 wins in 01'...or the amazing 95' run when the mariners were 13 games out of first game...came back on the last day, and one the west...

Giradi is good manager, but still unproven....give him some more seasons, he might be good, or even great. Cubs fans are lucky to have Piniella. Don't understand your hatred. I would love to have Piniella as the Mariners Manager again....

You are not correct. Players have two peaks.

First peak is between 26-28. (athletic ability)

2nd peak 31-33(Combination of Athletic ability+experience)

than from 34 and on, there is a decline.

I'll tell you who I wish could come back and manage again. Connie Mack. The guy won 3700 games and 9 pennants and 5, count 'em, 5 World Series. They probably didn't make World Series rings back then but if they did, he'd've had a handful. Talk about a great manager, man.

I'll confess that I'm not in a position to comment of Cedeno's defense, but even if he's the second coming as Ozzie defensively, I'm not sure you can play a guy every day who provides that little offense, even at short. Thirty years ago, when even strong offensive teams might score 650 runs a season, yeah I guess, but now, with all the increase in scoring, probably not. On the other hand, he's 23, so his hitting may still improve quite a bit.

Cedeno will end up at 2B(already the coversion began at the end of the season but was stopped by Theriot's fine batting) where hitting is less important (but his age ,progression & reduced stress factor) will allow him to have a good if not a great career
