View Full Version : 7.050 Rushing Rating a poor guide to running skill

Football Mogul 2009 v. 7.050 (also present in 2007):

Running backs with high Rushing ratings may or may not be productive runners -- often, a 90+ runner will average only 3.3 yards per carry or so. I know in FM 2007, some highly rated runners averaged under 3 yards per carry. Doesn't matter how good your offensive line is, or what kind of passing game you have, etc. -- if you go into Commissioner mode and edit the player, some players will have Predicted, say, 350 carries and 1050 yards (yuck!) while others will show similar yardage on 225 carries or less. And that's how they'll perform in the lineup, year after year. Neither the overall ratings nor the Rushing rating helps you find a good RB: you have to look at yards per carry, or view the predictions in commissioner mode.

before it seemed the rushing rating was HIGHLY dependent on number of carries, not yards gained...
